I also like entirely separate ones. Much safer and can avoid 'pinching' tarmac from motor traffic.
For best practice, look no further than NL, where they think nothing of completely remodelling a street, moving kerbs and all.....Here in the UK, more often than not its a quick fix with a can of white paint!

Idiots like you and your blatant disregard for the Highway Code and lack of courtesy to other road users is the exact reason why we need more dedicated cycle lanes.

Why give irrelevant comparisons with the Netherlands?
Remodelling OUR streets is an entirely different proposition and as we see on a regular basis they aren't used when they have been.
Houghton Street and much of the town where there is cycling lanes which I had occasion to visit quite a few times recently was bereft of other cyclists.
Money would be far better spent elsewhere, building facilities to lie empty is simply a waste.
Free GYM membership and weight classes might be more useful for our groaning and obese nation.

What you see is irrelevant as it obviously IS what Sefton see. Is that simple enough for you.

I’m wondering who the Nob is!
With your attitude to other road users, you should seriously consider some further driver training as you need to get up to speed on the Highway Code.
(You might also want to have a look at the offence of careless and inconsiderate driving, something which you’re admitting to in your post!)

It's a forum for expressing one's own opinion. Is that simple enough for you?
I will however refrain from expressing my opinion about you.

Considering all the outrage and furore over the past year about one of the main roads in the town centre I'd have thought that locals ought to be able to spell it correctly by now.

It's very relevant......Both here and in NL, what we have in common beneath our flags and kerbs is sand - an easy to dig material.
The way it's done, is by moving the kerb towards the roadway a couple of feet, take a couple of feet off the pavement too. Then use the space you've won, to provide a nice safe cycle-path minimum four feet wide (six feet width where possible) separated from road and pavement by its own kerbing. Other side of road do the same, giving riders of all ages and abilities their own unique 'highways'.
If you haven't tried riding a bike in NL, I'd suggest giving it a go, or at least view a few videos of cycling in NL. I can't imagine why someone who cycles themselves, would write off a straightforward engineering solution that's so well proven.

Your attitude to other road users is unacceptable.
You’re a danger, and should give up driving.
Quote the Highway Code and all the legalities to the hospital porters as they carry you in as you are a danger to yourself going up the inside of indicating vehicles turning left, yea I can do what I like I don’t care about you on your stupid bicycle if you are going to do daft tricks like that .

Why would you want to pass an indicating vehicle on the inside, wonder no longer .
And as it happens I am very courteous on the road.

I wouldn’t pass one that’s moving, but I would pass one that’s stationary in a line of traffic, which I’d be entitled to do as per the Highway Code.
The Nob would be the one who seems to think that deliberately blocking other road users is perfectly acceptable.

Go and have a ride around the plough roundabout and see how long you last cutting up real vehicles . Cyclists that have no real licence that quote the Highway Code should have some sort of test like the motorcycle CBT.

If that’s directed towards me, I’ve held a full bike licence for over 20 years and was a Police advanced motorcyclist......
