Over the weekend, local Policing Team Officers assisted Response Officers with the arrest of a man on suspicion of drink driving and also conducted patrols through the town centre and seafront areas, to disrupt and disperse groups young people responsible for anti-social behaviour.
During the course of this another bike was recovered, which has been booked into our property store to be checked against recent stolen bikes.
Officers from Sefton Targeted Team have continued patrols overnight in Southport in response to recent thefts and attempted thefts from motor vehicles.

....along with cyclists who don't obey the Highway Code, ride on pavements at speed endangering pedestrians (including on Hoghton Street) and commit other equally foolish practices.
At least over the years the number of motorists driving under the influence of drink has dramatically reduced, which is more than can be said for the behaviour of some cyclists, especially young ones, whose respect for other road users has substantially declined.

That's pure nonsense....The annual figures for motoring offences/drunk driving convictions are far, far higher than the figures for cycling convictions.

Perhaps if you read and comprehended other people's comments properly, you wouldn't have writen the above.
As for cycling convictions, it's hardly surprising when the police just don't bother doing little or anything about them....:-(

Odd isn't it, that every time there's a news report about a miscreant motorist, someone tries to deflect the blame by turning it into an anti-cycling thread - duh!

...or, alternatively, if it's about about a miscreant cyclist, someone tries to deflect the blame by turning it into an anti-motorist thread - Duh!
Don't like it being pointed out to you that you've not understood something, do you?

What's not to understand? The o/p refers to a drink drive offence - not a drunken cyclist - duh!
