Livable Neighbourhood
According to the plans issued today - looks like they have blocked off the quieter roads and have added to the most congested roads. Duke Street looks bad - that already gets jammed at rush hour, I travel that way sometimes going on to Lord Street to save going over Eastbank Bridge.

Today?
Plans were issued for consultation months ago. Have they changed?

I'd be very surprised if all those commuters/school-runners causing the 'jams', are en-route to/from far distant destinations. Imo, 'John Wayne St' (Duke St) is not the most logical way to get to Liverpool/Manchester/Preston, etc. Majority of vehicles must be local traffic, eminently suited to finding alternative means of travel from the ubiquitous private car.

There are several hundred miles of roads in Southport - the majority of them have to be used daily to get to key main roads that lead to Preston, Liverpool or Manchester.
Yet again your brain is not in full working mode....

What the residential roads within the scheme need, like a hole in the head - is an army of long-distance commuters barrelling through in their tin 'bolides' twice a day!

Unless your car is essential to your work duties or you work miles away from a station you'd have to be mad to commute by car between Southport and Liverpool rather than by train which is quicker and cheaper.

Although there's as many headlines about this ongoing pandemic as ever, Salus Populi must have somehow overlooked that fact when stating:

I note that Alikado, The PNP & Said all gave Salus's post their seal of approval after I'd posted my subsequent post, in which I reminded about the existence of the pandemic. All that's missing is for Duncet to concur with them.

Psychologically, that's probably true.

The restrictions were lifted in summer and we were given the instructions to get back to normal.

All of a sudden you have complete confidence in this Government's Covid management and advice?! When did your faith and trust in this Government's advice suddenly manifest?!

I have little confidence in the Governments management of anything, I was merely pointing out that the restrictions were lifted irreversibly.

...and you were pointing out that the Government had told people to go back to normal in the Summer as some form of rebuttal of my point that the pandemic was still ongoing and had never finished.
Did you go back to 'normal', then, on the basis of the Government advice you heard?
If not, then why do you think that someone would have to be mad to get in the car rather than board a train?...

In fact, the pandemic never finished. You should have read or heard something about the latest deadly wave in Europe?

Well - you seem to have trusted the Government all along. You have done everything the Government told you to do??
