According to the plans issued today - looks like they have blocked off the quieter roads and have added to the most congested roads. Duke Street looks bad - that already gets jammed at rush hour, I travel that way sometimes going on to Lord Street to save going over Eastbank Bridge.

I'd be very surprised if all those commuters/school-runners causing the 'jams', are en-route to/from far distant destinations. Imo, 'John Wayne St' (Duke St) is not the most logical way to get to Liverpool/Manchester/Preston, etc. Majority of vehicles must be local traffic, eminently suited to finding alternative means of travel from the ubiquitous private car.

There are several hundred miles of roads in Southport - the majority of them have to be used daily to get to key main roads that lead to Preston, Liverpool or Manchester.

Although there's as many headlines about this ongoing pandemic as ever, Salus Populi must have somehow overlooked that fact when stating:

I have little confidence in the Governments management of anything, I was merely pointing out that the restrictions were lifted irreversibly.

...and you were pointing out that the Government had told people to go back to normal in the Summer as some form of rebuttal of my point that the pandemic was still ongoing and had never finished.

Did you go back to 'normal', then, on the basis of the Government advice you heard?
