There is a huge opportunity to improve the environment of the retail park elements on the Southport seafront. At present the buildings can best be described as looking no better than ‘aircraft hangars’ says Cllr Sir Ron Watson.
The opportunity should be taken in conjunction with bodies such as the Arts Council to run a competition designed to cover the buildings with seaside themed murals.
This would have a unique and quite startling effect on the environment of the area and they could certainly prove to be an attraction in their own right both to retailers in particular and tourism in general.
The work involved in organising such a project would be minimal but the impact significant and I hope this will be pursued as a positive non-partisan proposal to the benefit of this critical area of Southport in particular and Sefton in general.

Why not have Kiosk style retail units that allow the service points to work?
Make money instead of spending it.

Why should Public Money be wasted on Private Commercial Property, surely the Councillor should be pointing his time and energy towards the owners to do something if it is such an eyesore.

Makes you wonder why they were given permission to build 'aircraft hangar' type buildings in the first place.
Typically balls it up in the first place, then spend a fortune trying to put it right.
You really want to improve the 'visitor experience', put more toilets down there.
