Southport journalist Martin Hovden writes: Former Downing Street aide Dominic Cummings gave a bombshell interview to BBC political editor Laura Kuenssberg last night.
Mr Cummings, who was one of the PM's closest advisors, said Johnson was not the right person to run the country.
He claimed Johnson – who is enthusiastically supported by Southport Tory MP Damien Moore - was initially reluctant to impose a COVID lockdown as he said the only people dying from the virus were the over 80s.
He also revealed Johnson regarded the right-wing Daily Telegraph as his real boss.
He said he had to persuade Johnson not to meet the Queen for their weekly meetings at Buckingham Palace as he may infect the monarch with the virus.
He said Johnson was too influenced by his wife Carrie and he eventually lost his influence over the PM because of her.
He revealed there were plans to replace Johnson within weeks of him being elected as he was not fit for office.
The sooner Johnson goes the better, said Cummings.
He said he was speaking out not because of revenge, but because he didn’t want the same mistakes to be made again.
Cummings is right.
The political system in England is broken and Johnson is totally unsuited to the job of PM. 99% of the current crop of politicians are not fit for purpose.

At the end of the day, this is one man's personal view and no different from anyone else's. Does it really matter what he thinks ? We all have our own opinions which are just as relevant when it comes to an election.
But the REAL FACT is Cummings knows Johnson inside out and for people on here to argue his comments is ridiculous. Yes there is a possibility of revenge but not much of what he has revealed have been challenged in Court which it most certainly would if it was dubious.
Any sane sensible person only has to look at Johnson and listen to his bluster to put him top of the buffoonery chart. Conservatives always will and always have thought themselves a cut above the rest of the population but Johnson has shown they really are not, morons are morons whatever their political persuasion.
We all know Johnson's history, his lies, his sackings, his total lack of moral fibre, his character. I can't see who would be remotely surprised by any revelations.
Tory voters don't care as long as their party is in power. The rest of us can't do anything until we are back at the ballot box. Or there is a public enquiry, whichever comes first.

The REAL FACT, is Johnson is the PM, because he was voted in.
The REAL FACTS are that the opposition weren't good enough to beat him, therefore, while Johnson may be performing woefully, just how bad would things have been had it been the likes of Corbyn.
For the record, I voted Tory in the last general election, for the first time in my life. I base my votes on who is the best person at that time to do the job, not through any blind political loyalties.
Definitely not fit to be Prime Minister. He creates problems rather than solves them.
The description of Johnson as akin to a shopping trolley are so accurate. His many faults have been disguised by the overwhelming attention paid to the pandemic, though his response has been far from adequate.
Sadly we are stuck with him at present, in the same way that the USA was with Trump. As in America we will be wiser come the next General Election, which Johnson is already trying to rig.

Johnson wasn't voted in the Conservative Party won most seats and he happened to be the leader. If Johnson is performing as woefully as you say how do you know things would be worse under Corbyn, perhaps having chosen who you thought to be the best you have made a mistake after all.

I’m well aware how the voting system works thanks.
I may have been wrong over my vote, but we’ll never know. I voted for the party I thought would be best.
As things stand, unless the opposition come up with something, I’ll possibly be voting Conservative next General Election. (Not that the Conservatives are any good, but they seem to be marginally less bad than the other options)
