Why would you not like to live in London
Almost every article you read on London is just how wonderful it is. All the responses given by Londoners claim that it is a vibrant wonderful city with fantastic restaurants and pubs.
Obviously, we disagree, otherwise we would be living there. So why would you not like to live in London, what is better for you in the North?

The two words in italics say it all.....it's one huge concrete jungle!

The narrow pavements were packed, every road solid with traffic and hardly a tree or blade of grass in sight.

The only places in London I'd consider moving to are far too expensive for me to afford.
It has its attractions, like most places. Nearly every city has a vibrant night life. But on a day-to-day basis, there is far more for me in the north west. Family and friends mainly.

A) For me, even the £1m+ pads hold no attraction. Fabulous though they may be, I couldn't do with being surrounded by all that chaos......Transport one to a nice scenic spot on the West coast however - and I'd move in, in a flash!
B) Agree entirely. Family and friends in the NW. Not to mention instant access to open countryside of W Lancs, with Wales and Cumbia etc, all within easy reach.

Too big, too busy, too expensive it’s a long time since I was in London due to work, hated it then, couldn’t wait to get out even though I only spent 4 weeks on two separate occasions.
People mention the sights, the best sight for me came on Friday afternoon, it was a big blue sign that read a M1 North.

The younger generation are attracted to life in London.
For them it is the place to be.
We have to laugh at our returning children and friends (for visits) who before they left shunned all tramps up hills and old mill ruins now the first place they take them.

The sights are there but how can you see the sights when you're watching out for the thousands of cycle couriers who are like demented wasps and not averse to disobeying ALL forms of traffic laws.

I worked there Monday-Friday for a year back in the 80s and my favourite sight was Euston Station on a Friday afternoon 2 hours 40 mins to Lime Street and a few beers in the Beehive. Have not been to London for over 25 years now and don't feel the need....
Take care out there

In the 1970s & 80s London's transformation was accelerating. Working in Malet St in the early 80s, I could spend my lunch break in the British Museum and cycle home to Hackney along the canal tow path much of the way. I used to cycle across the Lee Valley site of the future Olympic Park; it was full of small industrial units and a scrap metal repository. Tower Hamlets' Victoria Park was shabby, but a haven on sunny summer days.
Nowadays, highrise commercial and residential buildings house superordinate labourers of high finance. London and the S E of England have become a foreign land to many, elsewhere.
