Anyone watch the Fireworks?
I have heard a couple of reports that agree with mine, I did not need to go to the actual site- but I will not say anything until I get back from Blackpool tomorrow. Did anyone go to see them here at Southport?

My son and daughter went to see them with a few friends but I understand it was called off half way through due to deteriorating weather conditions (wind). I have no idea as to the quality of the displays or music though. . . .

Who said Blackpool was dead? It looked busier than it did in the sixties, it was packed! Comparing the International Firework show at Blackpool to that of Southport, there is no comparison.
I have not been to Blackpool for a few years, but it is very obvious that it has received a great deal of investment there which has paid off handsomely. It is not mentioned as to where the investment has come from - but if it is from external sources, then this would rate as one of Labour's success stories. The whole of Blackpool town was absolutely packed tonight. The atmosphere was fantastic, there was not a cross word heard, people were very friendly, never any 'f' words were used and there was much laughter and joking around - there must have been many thousands of people there. The firework display was free, the best display I have ever seen, and far bigger than that of Southport as it was launched from the much larger area of the beach instead of the confined area of a relatively small park. (Congratulations to Dublin, a great show.) The illuminations are fabulous and second to none - even the Coast guard Tractors were brightly lit in all colours. There were very long queues at EVERY place where food could be bought, every car park and multi storey car park was over flowing, For the huge number of people, there were fewer people drinking alcohol - possibly because there were many families about, and the weather had turned very warm. Nowhere closed until midnight. The North pier itself was brightly lit up and packed with people. The downside was the abundance of illegal substance users, almost everywhere stank of weed - not good on a hot humid evening, and the drug trade was also very busy from what I saw. Can't have everything I guess!

That explains some of your posts - from your passive inhalation you're still 'high'.

Wow, nobody said "fireworks" at a fireworks event attended by thousands. That's as unbelievable as your completely biased review.

Sounds just like Southport when it was just 'locals'...

No joking! I really thought I was going to get high, the fumes were so cloying. Young people believe that 'weed' is harmless. The truth is that it is an illegal drug which is slow activating. Over time it has a devastating effect on the brain making people totally unreliable for undertaking any responsibilities both in work and in using the roads.
There have been far more deaths and accidents on the roads lately and a huge number of suicides - are these increases drug related?
In sparsely populated areas, the use of drugs is hardly noticeable - but in crowded events, i.e. rock concerts - the use of illegal drugs is very common.
