Knob Hall Lane residents have won a competition with the Daily Express as one of the worst conditioned roads in Britain.
The pot holed road finally got resurfaced yesterday with JCB showcasing a new machine that fixes potholes both quickly and effectively.
Cllr Mike Morris of Cambridge ward said:
‘If the Daily express recognised that Knob Hall Lane is the worst road in the country for pot holes, why can't Sefton Council?
‘Despite Sefton Council granting planning permission for 3 developments off Knob Hall lane, no provision was made to insist developers bring the road up to an adoptable standard - resulting in the stalemate we find ourselves in now.
‘It was great to spend the day speaking to residents and seeing the works progress. I want to put on record my special thanks to local businesses JCB and Dowhigh for offering to complete these works free of charge.
‘The road used to be maintained to a safe state by Sefton Council. Won’t they continue doing so? Or better still, bring the road up to an adoptable standard and adopt it?’
The road has been a long running dispute between residents and the Council about its upkeep.
Sefton Council were quoted as saying:
“We are aware of the issue of maintenance responsibility for Knob Hall Lane has been the source of dispute for many years.
“Recently Sefton Council undertook extensive investigations into the matter, which involved a thorough search of the Council’s documentary records and seeking further independent legal advice.
“The findings from this extensive investigation reaffirmed that, as Knob Hall Lane is an unadopted road, Sefton Council is not responsible for its upkeep.”

It's an unadopted road - it's the three new roads off it that are adopted...!!!
So Councillor Mike Morris is way out of line.

Sefton Council has refused to do anything about Knob Hall Lane for years, but an independent comes in to facilitate repairs, and who’s first in front of the c@mera, yep, a scumbag Councillor.

I never had no problem with it, just simply cycled around the potholes! Whilst the great prevalence of potholes helped discourage rat-runners, keeping it safe and traffic-free.

Well what would you expect from a Tory. He'd be quite happy for the council to spend money on a road that they have no responsibility for if it secured him the votes of the residents. The party of fiscal responsibility, allegedly.

What sort of English grammar is that?

You really are a truly self-centred, uncaring member of the human species.

From what I've been told, it hasn't been resurfaced, only the pot holes have been filled in.

What a crass comment to make!
Let's hope you never come a cropper down there and need an ambulance only to be bounced around in.

Put it this way....Absence of traffic = zero chance of a knockoff, so no call for ambulances to scrape up squashed riders.

Again another crass comment
What about the many residents who may require an ambulance for any number of reasons but with such a self-centred outlook we should expect little else.

The road is the residents responsibility. They will have known this when they bought the properties so they cannot blame the council for the state its in.

I'm not blaming anyone, I know full well about the situation with the road as I have relatives living there, my comments have nothing to do with the upkeep or the council.
