No huge surprise. It's like those amazing satellites that we were building that don't work. And everything else this government touches that turns into a pile of shite almost instantly.

According to Bloomberg, we're in the crap and getting deeper:

U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to “unleash Britain’s potential.” First the economy has to catch back up with the rest of the world.

Research by Bloomberg Economics estimates that the economic cost of Brexit has already hit 130 billion pounds ($170 billion), with a further 70 billion pounds set to be added by the end of this year. That’s based on the damage caused by the U.K. untethering from its Group of Seven peers over the past three years.

It's unicorns, rainbows and sunlit uplands from here on in.

The problem is the negatives of Brexit keep piling up, the positives, nothing in sight yet, we all know Brexit is happening, we know when, the how remains unknown, the why was and still is a mystery.

I suppose in some respects we should pity Brexit supporters, it must be difficult to explain support for a policy sold to the country through a compendium of fraud, lies and deceit.

Unfortunately we all have to live with it, pity goes out the window.

I shall place your pity for me on a mantlepiece and polish it regularly.

Losing the intellectual debate on Brexit still smarts doesn't it ?

Insulting over half the population because you didn't get your way is pretty poor.

Stating that anyone with opposing views to you only has them because of deceit and lies is just another sign of bitterness because you didn't get your wish.

Isn't it time you moved on and tried to see some positives just one a week might help you.

OK I'll try again, no it doesn't smart, don't like it, don't agree with it, but I'm very well aware that it's going ahead.

In cases of fraud no-one blames the victims, just the fraudsters.

You say look for positives, as regards Brexit there is nothing positive to find, let alone look for, in fact the negatives continue to pile up, even from our own alleged negotiators, see today's news ref; motor manufacturers.

Brexit is happening, I'll live with it, but don't understand the act of self harm involved, but we all know who the perpetrators are when the brown smelly stuff hits the fan.

Is that what the Quitters are doing now, looking for 'positives'?

Crossing fingers? Wishing upon a star? Hoping the Farage Fairy delivers fisheries?

I've just heard about that. I remember trying to explain Rules of Origin to Local, and being poo-pooed. Can you see the smug expression on my face?

A trade agreement is between 2 or more countries. To qualify for zero rated or preferential tariffs, products must contain a stated percentage of components/raw materials that originate in one or more of the countries who are partners to the deal.

The same will apply to any future trade deals with any other country, although the qualifying percentage may differ. All products exported under a trade deal must have a Certificate of Origin verifying that they are British. Obviously companies have to prove their products do meet origin requirements.

OK, you’re so switched on, you tell us about the positives, show all who doubt the whole damn thing, just were we are wrong.

More sanctimonious claptrap "trying to explain" my arris,

the UK and EU could agree that EU inputs qualify as originating in the UK and vice versa in the ongoing trade talks. That arrangement known as bilateral cumulation would make it easier for UK exporters with supply chains in the EU to have their goods deemed sufficiently British.

Goods sourced from outside the EU could have an agreed percentage which would be very helpful for British jobs.

We rely as Trump has pointed out far too much on the likes of China as it is.

The EU are simply trying to be awkward but biting off the nose of their exporters in the process.

This should be a win win for British jobs.

It is us that has the the problem, it is not the EU content causing the issue it it the non UK / EU content that is too high to qualify as UK made.

The UK and EU could agree, what do you think a trade deal is? The whole premise of a trade deal is that products deemed to have originated in any of the countries that are parties to the deal automatically qualify for free entry or preferential tariffs.

For example, in the US/Canada/Mexico trade deal, the rules of origin for cars and car parts state that 75% of the value must come from components/raw material sourced from the US, Mexico and Canada. If not, they don't qualify for free entry in any of the 3 countries.

The components currently at issue in UK/EU negotiations are sourced in Japan and Turkey. If they are excluded from the total value, the total British content won't meet the EU threshold, which is 60% I think.

Welcome to the real world. If you think that the EU is being awkward, you're in for a shock when you find that the same situation will occur in future trade negotiations anywhere in the world. Rules of Origin are the key component in any FTA. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out why.
