I think you've got a heart of gold, Jamy, but I believe that in this case your defence is misplaced. Said is deliberately stirring the pot by posting misinformation, bragging about his contravention of restrictions designed to slow the spread and protect vulnerable people. Plus a total lack of empathy for a member who has lost three people who were near and dear to him.

His lies, "facts" and advice (I say "his", but there are 2 people who use Said's account, one of whom is female) are unconscionable. It's trolling at its very worst.

Looking at it another way - most people believed in the reasons we were given for World War 2, the facts we were given for Pearl Harbour, the Vietnam War, the Moon landing, the Bovine outbreak, the Gulf wars, the twin towers, etc. etc., None of which were as we were all informed. Yet some people continue to believe faithfully in purely what they are told in the media! Make it loud enough! Repeat it enough times! And everyone will come to believe it - a Politicians wet dream!

But people are not believing such stories. The majority are at the very least highly dubious - this is shown repeatedly in social media, even though we all know that such posts are being monitored. With luck, Venture will have picked up on this and will relay the message back to their employers.

Now back to the topic - Is this the end of lockdown?

Today I received a visit from my first trades person since the lockdown! Whoopee! i need a window repairing which involves ordering a unit from a manufacturer, who must also be operating now.
DO NOT READ ON IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED!

The guy who turned up was really professional, but it was an awkward situation I have not been placed in before. He said as soon as he arrived "I have sanitised my hands" I thought ' it is my windows I want doing, not a medical operation' I told him that I was really not bothered. He then said " I will stand two metres from you at all times" I told him again that I was not bothered, if he wanted to then it was up to him. Bless, he even removed his shoes before he came in - I told him that he did not have to do that, the floor is meant to be walked on. That really annoys me when I call at some places - if people ask you to remove your shoes - it means that people are either too lazy to clear up any marks that MAY be left or cannot afford to get a cleaner in, in which case. they should just have concrete floors.

Your reply to Sev presumably is in response to my post? You are right in that grief is a personal thing and my post was in no way intended make people feel sad, it was however a plea directed at you in the vain hope of making you see that your blatant and continued disregard for the rules of lockdown is and will continue to cause more heartbreak and grief.

If you do as you say "share the same sensibilities, the same sympathies and the same acute awareness" then for god sake follow the rules like the vast majority of the country, stop going out as you like, stop going to see your mates in other words stop being a d*ck!

Then maybe just maybe we can all look forward to a life without restrictions sooner rather than later.

Said has been put in lockdown for a couple of weeks:

1) To remind him to be polite to well liked long standing members.

2) To remind him that flouting government restrictions and disseminating misinformation is against the law.
