It's the first murder for a couple of years and it doesn't really count when it's gang / drugs related.

There is said to be a large 'underworld' population in our town. The undesirables are attracted here from the surrounding cities with their dirty money. Birkdale seems to be desirable for them, as well as Formby. If not that, it must be the fatherless degenerates that are getting bored and have bought themselves a gun from dark ebay in order to shoot somebody that they had a disagreement with over a computer game or perhaps a snapchat post.

The events on Guildford Road were indeed tragic, but I’m 100% certain that it wasn’t a random act of violence.
When all the details come out, it will no doubt be connected to drugs, money or both. Certainly not 5 lads picking a house at random and carrying out an horrific act.
There’s a very strong chance that the people who carried out this act were not local but had travelled to Southport specifically to carry out the deed.
Having said that, Southport has its problems, but no more than a lot of towns that I have lived / visited.
Many of the issues stem from drugs, drink, bad parenting, a lack of respect for others and their property.
Something like what happened the other night is fortunately very rare. We shouldn’t feel threatened by it.

The Police do say it was a targeted attack.

Definately NO Midsomer is a quaint picturesque area with not a scouse accent to be heard.

The involvement of a Merc and a bike has Liverpool connections - they have been involved in other shootings.
Southport is quiet now to what it was. There were many disputes with the local clubs and London gangs. Protection rackets, drugs and prostitution gangs, hired body guards, etc., People who grassed on any, were shot. There were the Ice Cream wars with disputes on who would trade in which areas, there was the Taxi Wars with new companies moving in - taxis were often burnt out on the beach, there was the Doormen disputes with shootings, there was even a shoot out over Eastbank Bridge one Sunday between rival gangs, there were a few shop keepers murdered during robberies, etc., There was a mass riot when a local lad died. You never knew what to expect and when.
Now it is wars among drug dealer gangs and cannabis farms. There are a good few of the top suppliers, who have moved to Southport and Formby - it is not difficult to pick out their houses either. There is also a brisk trade in stolen motor car parts.

Get involved with drugs and gangs and It's an occupational hazard, the more they shoot each other the better as far as I'm concerned as long as innocent bystanders don't get caught in the crosswise.
