Question, is the old go-kart track part of Pleasureland? that is certainly undergoing a major revamp.

Pleasureland could be an important attraction to Southport, but it lacks the vibrancy of a successful venue.
The external appearance of the whole fairground is less than welcoming, with shabby paintwork and a totally unkempt look of all the structures from the beach view point. The long term camper vans parked in the car park create the feeling that the fairground is just an add on for the amusement of the campers only. The entrance on the beach side of the fairground is small and lacks any form of enticement- yet it is where most tourists can be found in the summer months. On entering the fairground, there is a lack of brightly presented stalls, the previous cheerful stall holders have been replaced with very young staff more intent on their own issues than promoting their rides for the interest of the public, and there are few thrill rides.
By the very nature of fairgrounds - they do take a long time and huge investment to turn them into highly profitable concerns. But Pleasureland has now had twenty years to bring life an energy to Southport - it should be more vibrant than it is at present.
I really cannot agree with you , from my experience Pleasureland is thriving , the staff are great and well presented . And the investment is said to be huge . So I don't know where you are coming from .

Yes it is. Also plans afoot for the triangular shaped car park in front of the main entrance.

Being polite, makes the OP's comments look ridiculous.

He does a good enough job of that all by himself.

That's from an old document and not necessarily indicative of what's actually in the pipeline, given that it shows the old pitch and putt still in situ when it's going to be an animatronic dinosaur park with a high ropes course above it. So old it doesn't even have the Kings Gardens play area on it.

I agree that the external presentation on the beach-side is awful and in desperate need of upgrading. A grand entrance on that side plus landscaping to make it look enticing is needed and should be first priority.
That said, I think Norman Wallace deserves our recognition and thanks for urning what was a derelict mess into an attraction which draws people to the town once again.
I'm only happy when it rains....

Many seem to forget that after Thompsons pulled out and virtually wrecked what they left, the place was just a mess, which would have probably needed to be cleared at ratepayers expense, a lot of work has been done, sure there are other works which could make the place look better, but how about praise for what has been done rather than sniping at what could be improved.

Completely agree. Having spent several seasons working there, the state it became was a crying shame. Hopefully Wallace can wipe the eye of the Thompsons.

Sorry have to disagree with the fundamental point in question ,yes there's a few parts that are ready for a paint but hey... Rome wasn't built in a day ,they are doing a brilliant job the fair is looking better than it has for years ,as for the bit about long term camper vans that's utter nonsense most stay for days maybe a week or 2, exactly same as any other site across the UK ,if you don't like the fact that millions of people are choosing camping /motor homes etc to stay in the UK then its tough luck , the view/topic seems a bit bigoted in my opinion .

Pleasureland
Norman Wallace doing a great job. Trying his best for this town. The negativity he recieves would of seen lesser a man running for the hills. But he plods on, would anyone else take on his day today running and financial commitments. Takes a committed person. Good luck to him staff ,manager (Neil) etc. There putting the town on the map.

"Numerous new buildings - and a striking looking seashell shaped dome - would be gathered along Marine Drive, in front of Pleasureland, in place of the go kart track and car park currently on site." Sefton proposed plans 2016.
