It would appear that a few of us need a memory refresher, or more likely a little verification from you.

Around the time of the Toxteth Riots there was unrest in many towns and cities including Southport and I recall incidents in Ainsdale and High Park.

There were kids throwing bricks and tipping cars up all over the place back then. I recall Manchester being a bit hairy. It was nearly 40 years ago. Toxteth was a riot. Salford, Preston, Bolton etc was shitty little brats jumping on a bandwagon. I imagine it was the same here.
I really don't see the majority remain Southport kicking off if we don't leave the EU on Halloween. Any more than they did when we didn't leave in March. Bit of grumbling in 'Spoons, at the worst. Then if they extend it to January, the oldies definitely won't budge outside. Icy pavements and dodgy hips are not conducive to rioting.
If the leavers were going to riot, why didn't they do it 7 months ago?

Well, can find no reports of mass rioting in Southport as such, sure spates of vandalism from the more moronic citizens, plus a few brawls and disturbances at our "favourite" family holiday camp, requiring police intervention, beyond that, nothing more than some "copy cat" tactics from those hoping for the chance to update their electronic systems FOC.

We have only ever had left wing riots in the uk causing damage in recent memory the right wing crackpots usually meet in a phone box surrounded by hundreds of baying left wing rowdies.
When was the last time anyone saw well off, well educated Conservatives rioting over anything ?
Rioting is for the peasants .

Well off Conservatives rarely have anything to riot about. I doubt many well off Conservatives were too worried about the Poll Tax, for example. Not many Tories were young black men from deprived areas unfairly targeted by the police either.
Unfortunately civil defiance or unrest is sometimes the only avenue left open. The Tolpuddle Martyrs wouldn't have been pardoned without it. But I sincerely doubt the Leave voters will riot, even if Brexit is cancelled. There might be civil unrest if any of Yellowhammer happens, but otherwise, I predict a damp squib, not a riot.
That's not to say the leave vote wouldn't be upset, but as I said grumbling in Spoons, rather than marching along Lord St. Cold and wet isn't the weather for rioting in this country.

It probably goes hand in hand with education and aspirations,
most people with some active brain cells know that smashing up London during say the anti-capitalist marches of 2001 did not put food on their table or improve the country for them or their children.
Teaching children that working together not destroying and protesting together is a lesson the educated learn early on.
Extinction rebellion are going through that learning curve at the moment as their support stalls people want the positive not the negative.
Thankfully the educated and consequentially usually better off don't resort to street protests and destroying democracy.

WHAT DO WE WANT?
A decent claret.
WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
After the Au Pair has dropped the kids off at prep.

We have a right to peaceful protest. Absolutely, without question.
Sometimes civil disobedience is also necessary. The suffragettes, for example, needed to do more than just wave a few placards.
It depends on the situation and the reason for protesting. Extinction Rebellion are protesting peacefully. They may be causing massive disruption, but the protest would be pointless if it was simply ignored.
As long as emergency services can continue, they've given people plenty of warning. They shouldn't be stopped unless they harm people, in my opinion.

Spoken like a true blinkered Tory, arrogance and superiority over load, just remember education doesn't always equate to intelligence, something easily shown by simply looking at the right wing press.

Some of it was quite serious with several Police vehicles damaged, I seam to remember 1 Police Officer was badly hurt, a pool ball in a sock. Prison sentences were issued if I remember rightly.

Without education you would be grunting from a cave.
Even well off Tory Toffs turn out a few Tim Nice But Dims.
The reality is to get on in life it's hard work for the overwhelming majority of us.
Having a different opinion to you doesn't mean you are not intelligent.
I have never thought that all contributors to the Socialist Worker are thick indeed I have posted some of their comments on here.
