Well the BBC's Sports Personality...
...of the Year for 2021 winner is already done and dusted.
No real need to hold a vote....

A certain contender for sure but after the remarkable achievements of Team GB and Para GB there are plenty of others to vie for the prize.
A remarkable young woman with the world at her feet, with like the of the Williams sisters coming to the end of their playing careers.
I always though Andy Murray was playing during the wrong era, with Nadal, Federer & Djokovic he was always going to struggle to win multiple tittles.

Quite understand that nomination - remarkable cricketer.
However, that is due to outstanding fast bowling figures for club and country over a long career, whereas Emma has almost literally come from nowhere to land one of the four Grand Slam titles at just 18 years of age.

All would or will be worthy contenders, but the public tend to vote for someone who has won their hearts with a particularly outstanding performance or achievement, such as Lewis Hamilton, Tony McCoy or three times winner Sir Andy Murray.

A contender, no doubt. But in a year where than have been so many outstanding sporting achievements, is winning one tournament worthy of the title?
I don't follow a lot of sports, but Sarah Storey and the Kennys leap out to me.
I've no doubt that Emma, should she continue in a winning career, will win it one day. She was outstanding last week. But I do think there are many more athletes more deserving.
Although how the public votes is anyone's guess.

A contender for SPotY certainly but there is a call for some sort of New Year honour, an amazing achievement to be congratulated but not as yet worthy of a tittle, perhaps if her winning streak continues for a few more years.

It's been stated that Emma is in line for an OBE.

Really? I reckon that's a bit OTT for one tournament. But good luck to her if she gets one.
I suppose they've been handed out for less.
I've no doubt if she continues to represent us with the grace she did in the US Open, she'll more than deserve the honour one day.

Plenty of 3 time winners in the list.
My old man always said the OBE stood for Other Bu66er$ Efforts.

Sorry, but that is incorrect. Murray is the only three times winner, although a number have won twice.
