Therefore it's surely a bad idea for unvaccinated people to be going to nightclubs between now and the end of September. So why have they been opened?
As Johnson says "if not now, when?" Clearly the answer is don't open them until the end of September.

There is the problem, the current rate of vaccinations has fallen and continues to fall, will this sort of pressure increase the uptake of vaccination? Personally I feel we are now hitting those who feel “COVID doesn’t affect me” the assorted anti vaxxers and those for who vaccination is not practicable.

I think the idea is to let the virus rip among the younger members of population before the Colleges and Universities go back to get herd immunity.

They'll be mixing with older people at home, at work, in shops, on public transport.
You can't let a virus rip among younger people and expect older people not to be affected by it.

Two thirds of those being admitted to hospital haven't been vaccinated of the other third many will have only recently had a jab and not yet achieved immunity, Vaccination reduces the chance of serious illness and death so what have we to fear?
If those not having the jab wish to take a chance it is up to them.

There's also the issue of the potential for letting it rip creating new variants that are resistant to the vaccine.

Or would be if they hadn't been cut to the point of being practically non existent.
Checks on premise would be futile, they would all have Policy Documents etc in place but how could they check the customers credetials?
