"Labour should take responsibility for resolving “the mess” left behind by private finance initiative (PFI) deals used to fund the building of hospitals under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, Jeremy Corbyn has said.
In an article for the Guardian, the Labour leadership frontrunner said the NHS is now paying the price for New Labour having been “cowed by the press, and duped by the money men” when it used private finance for building health projects.
“Labour has a duty to remove the PFI burden from the NHS – this really was our mess, and we have to clear it up,” Corbyn said.
The Islington North MP said that the legacy of PFI deals – where public infrastructure projects are funded with private capital – was that some hospitals were suffering under a weight of debt.
Labour must clean up the mess it made with PFI, and save the health service
He said that there was a case for Labour not only to draw a line under the PFI deals of previous governments but also to bail out such hospitals.
“In opposition we need to campaign for a fund to be set up to bailout NHS trusts from PFI schemes forced upon them. This will save our NHS, rebuild our economic credibility and most importantly, save lives,” he said."

It is not how much borrowing was involved - it is what was the REASON for the borrowing? If the government has used the loans for investments then although it looks bad on paper in the short term the long term will reap the benefit.
For instance the new proposed high speed train will be a great investment. The benefit is that it will open up the North to create a better economy in the region. Most commuters in London, pay massive rents and travel anything up to two hours train travel in rush hour to get to work. If the line is managed correctly the fares should be more reasonable too. It will take about an hour from London to the North and the rent will be much cheaper, the air a lot cleaner. Unemployed people in the North will have a greater opportunity for work.
The Labour Party while in office would have had the same opportunity - but failed to respond to the problems in the North and for working class people. But on paper - their borrowing appears to be much healthier.

Why?
It was developed and used by the UK and Australia used in Europe (Spain).
Labour misused and abused the system.
In 1992 PFI was implemented for the first time in the UK by the Conservative government of John Major. It immediately proved controversial, and was attacked by the Labour Party while in opposition.
The use of PFI was very limited until 1997 but became widespread under the New Labour government.

Yeah! Not a fan of Thatcher that's for sure! Labour did not need to borrow money - it was Labour who opened the gate to huge numbers of immigrants, charging each one for an entrance fee!

So the stock brokers get fatter with the Tories in charge, what a bloody surprise, the state of the stock market is not the state of the country, in fact the stock market is merely an indication of the profit levels for the financiers, does not reflect or transfer to the average person.

This would seem apt

In the Club 22 voting tonight, McVey, Leadsome, Raab and Harper are out!
Boris Johnson secured the most support in the first round of voting in the Conservative party leadership race on Thursday, while Andrea Leadsom, Esther McVey and Mark Harper were eliminated. Seven candidates will proceed to the next round

The stock market is very important to all of us whether you invest or not.
It is a very important indicator to the state of the economy and affects your average joe from pension performance to inward investment and capital raising for expansion and innovation.

The question is do you want a leader who tells it like it is or not ?
The BBC at our expense wheels out the same old "commentators and experts" many ex BBC who do live like leeches off the news stream.
They perpetuate bias and misinformation
Can you point to the paid appearances of Boris on TV ?
He certainly gets paid as a journalist and for after dinner speeches but either are not forced on us as much as with the BBC.

Not that his history has shown. He is a remainer, not likely to be much help over Brexit! Polls have Johnson in the lead - but Raab is more reliable.

Raab, or Charles 1 as I prefer to call him, you have got to be joking. Off with his head !
Did you notice that on an earlier post you mistakenly said that Raab had been eliminated?

His record as London Mayor does not support your claim.
