It isn't flu season. Why would anyone be worried about flu right now?

And if it was the flu season, the only people really concerned are those classed as vulnerable. Those who automatically qualify for a free jab. Though if you're that bothered, you can just pop along to a pharmacy and buy one.

This from someone who claims to have his finger on the pulse, better informed than most thanks to his wide circle of contacts, who claims to have better understanding of facts and statistics, yet trots out an old article which has no bearing on the current epidemic.

How many times do you have to be told, this damned virus isn't flu, people are dying, or is this just "normal" from any "flu".

He also begged Brits to stop ignoring government advice and take the outbreak seriously.

It IS the main flu season! There are a number of strains out at present, along with Brochitis, Tonsillitus, Stomach bugs etc., The main season runs from November to March!

No point in having any flu jab for every year a new strain has evolved and the flu jab does not protect anyone contracting a new strain. Last year in Southport, hundreds of people contracted flu which left them with a cough lasting more than six weeks or more. So far, no-one in Southport has contracted, or died from the new virus - a link perhaps?

There isn't a huge problem in Seftons reported numbers SO FAR but its a ghastly thing to gamble with.

Chinese returning after their new year is certainly part of the reason for spread, but not entirely, by a long way, travellers of all types have returned to their homes carrying the virus, the problem from the outset has been people already infected and carrying the virus, but showing no symptoms until later.

Which is the reason for the need for distancing and as much isolation as possible, not surprisingly the conspiracy theorists are out in force, collecting the easily lead.

The first cases reported all focussed on the Chinese returning to various countries after the Chinese New Year. UK, Spain, Italy,etc., The incubation period of this new virus is around 11/14 days - ie you can have the virus without showing any signs of it for up to fourteen days. The outbreak which occurred in Italy happened on the 27th January, in Spain it occurred on 29th January as it did in the UK. The Chinese New Year is a very special occasion for the Chinese people, even under their very strict regime - they are allowed 7 days of celebration. The Chinese New Year started this year on the 25th January and lasted until 2nd February. The Chinese people would not have been travelling back until then - AFTER THE OUTBREAK HAD STARTED GLOBALLY!
