Several local builders have contacted Qlocal to say how disgusted they are that the Shakespeare Pub is being demolished without taking the slates off the roof first.
Thousands of slates are just being smashed into the rubble.
A worker on the site told Qlocal that it was not economically viable and that his boss had too much money anyway!
The slates on the building next door will be removed as that is being taken down brick by brick.

Job should have been given to a local building/demolition company.

Requirement for recycling should have been made by developer when appointing demolition contractors.

More likely the developer wanted the quickest and cheapest clearance of the site.

They had undamaged chimney pots on the roof. £50 each.
They are going to build a road onto the site, where the three storey house/shop is. There will be 23 units with 23 parking spaces. The entrance is nearly opposite the entrance to Lydl. There is residents parking on the road plus a bus stop by the Shakespeare. Can see problems ahead.

Knowing someone who works for a "LOCAL" Demolition firm I can confirm you are right this firm are doing it at a vastly lower price than the Local firm who recycle everything they can.
