I don't know Falau like everyone on this thread and I am not religious but like EVERYONE he has the right of an opinion and Very Dangerous Ground is being walked here if the establishment can take his livelihood off him for his opinion. As he assaulted/seriously harmed or killed anyone?
The tail is wagging the dog and it's about time they tried to get off their self imposed pedestal and lived their lives like everyone who doesn't think they are better than someone else, they may find it more acceptable and less confrontational.
Late last year I started a new job, in the first week or so I'd been asked a couple of times if I'm gay. I am, I don't hide it nor do I promote it, would they ask someone if they're straight?

I worry about this apparent rush to categorise each and every unsavoury utterance as a hate crime.
People like these two rugger types should be allowed to voice their opinions, and do so under the blanket of free speech.
How else can the more sensible amongst us challenge those views and beliefs. Other posters have rightly voiced concerns over the risk of harm to certain groups, but I believe this fear of harm is given a disproportionate level of credence. A more considered approach is required here.
Unless someone is clearly and unequivocally inciting others to cause actual harm to another, they should be allowed to express their opinions freely.
To have it any other way risks turning the world into an intellectual desert. I cite some of our universities and the ridiculous 'safe space' crusade some have embarked upon.
Far better to let these religious wallahs spout their nonsense and give others a chance to debunk the bunkum.
It's a fine line to tread but at some point a little common sense needs to be applied.

Unfortunately some people hang on every word that people in the public eye say, they take it as fact so it continues.
Personally, what was said was relatively tame and had it been his only incident then he probably wouldn't have been sacked. As for burning in hell, if there was such a place I'd be off down there for more reasons than my sexual orientation

We can't live our lives or run our society at the lowest levels of thinking.
Some will distort the simplest of comments to their own ends.
Believing people will burn in hell is medieval thinking and reacting to it is a waste of emotion.
Heaven and hell are part of a carrot and stick invention for control of the populace.
If were going to condemn or ban anyone maybe we should start with those who preach this nonsense rather than those who simply repeat it.

.
Nobody has tried to restrict their right to free speech. They have, however, both breached their very lucrative employment contracts.

With Folau already having warned by the ARU over these serious breaches of his contract. In spite of that he has now effectively thumbed his nose at his employers and his contractual responsibilities. Consequently, as with any contracted employment, he'll get his just desserts, and rightly so.
Just be yourself, no one else is better qualified!!

If you read my post again nowhere do I say anything about ASKING anyone if they are homosexual what I said was homosexuals who like to TELL people they are homosexual. I don't want to know what your sexual preferences are, like you don't want to know what mine are unless my exceedingly handsome good looks and powerful build cause you to ask me then there would be a two word reply.

You commented 'I don't get introduced to someone and make a point of letting them know I am heterosexual' I was making a point that for some reason people feel need to ask or confirm if someone is gay, they don't ask the same question if someone is heterosexual. I assume they must be pretty certain in their assumption to ask in the first place but why feel the need to have this confirmed, it simply makes no difference.

I certainly don't ask anyone what their sexuality is, as I have said time and time again I am not interested in what preferences people have in the privacy of their own home but when they feel the need to tell everybody they are homosexual like you did a couple of posts ago then I no longer have any interest in their continued input as I have to live under a set of laws that don't include me that are there to give people with sexual deviations extra protection. In this country if you are Black and Homosexual/Lesbian you've got it made no one can say anything whatsoever that is deemed Racist or Homophobic. But you can relatively say anything you want about me or other ethnic white heterosexuals. Thereby lies the difference if there weren't so many homosexual/lesbian MP's and Police we might all have the same level of protection from the law.

When you've finished with them can I borrow your Doc Martin's, drainpipe jeans, braces and crombie coat. - I'm going to a fancy dress party as a white paranoid homophobe. Sexual deviants - give me strength - is this 2019 or 1919?

I can't think of any offensive remarks that I could make about you being a heterosexual, but can list many that can be levelled at homosexuals, if there are then you have the same protection in law as everyone else.
You no longer have any interest in input from a 'sexual deviant' similarly I have no interest in any further input from a bigot.

That's right, black gay people get posh council houses, xboxes, wide screen TV's and cars from the council. Paid for by selling the blood of honest decent straight white men.
If ever you needed a rationale for the equalities act, then LL's postings provide it.

We know there are plenty of like minded people, perhaps religious zealots describes some, are we not better hearing their nonsense and dealing with it ?
The clever "smiling assassins" will simply learn to obfuscate if we suppress their speech.
I don't get the urge to throw jelly babies at people gay or straight one of the benefits of not following any religion, what makes you want to even think of stoning someone to death is the problem.

I don't mind listening to the subject of other people's gender and welcome any so called advertising of the issues.
I need the information to understand the challenges people face and to not cause any offence by ignorance.

It would be even more interesting to know what the theme of that fancy dress party is. Ha!Ha!
All he is stating is that there should be equality for all! Is that not what the PC brigade constantly tell us?
