In a statement on their Facebook page this morning
It’s with great sadness we have to confirm some of the 'rumours' that we will be closing down at the close of business on Sunday 29th May.
Unfortunately due to increased costs and so much uncertainty we have fallen victim to the cost of living crisis.
I am proud to have such an amazing team working with me here, and we are all working together through our final weeks to support each other.

Just wondered whether the no parking situation may have had an effect?

An effect on what?
Drink driving convictions?

Ever heard of the "designated driver" concept?
Loss of business because customers can't park where there are cycle lanes is a real treat to many town centre businesses.

Yes, but unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world where everyone designates a sober driver. An average of 85,000 convictions each and every year are testament to this.
Ever heard of town centre car parks? We have plenty of car parking.

I was interested in the current owners opinion not a farm animal who needs to ‘calm down’

Do people only visit businesses where they can park right outside the door? What happens if those spaces are already full. Is a car park 2 minutes walk away too far?

Well, try addressing the business owner instead of a public forum then? Duh.

I thought it was the business owner that put the article on the forum?

If all the spaces are full that means that a lot of prospects are in town.
If all the spaces are removed that means some of the prospects will take their business elsewhere.
Which do you think is better for local business?

Some people will be prepared to walk to their destination, some will not.
The inevitable result of reduced on street parking is a reduction in business.
The inevitable result of reduced business is reduced profitability.
The inevitable result of reduced profitability is closure.

According to google maps, the nearest off street parking to Reuters is a 4 minute walk.
But then you never let facts get in the way of your opinions.

In perfect world someone would actually use the cycle lanes but from London St to Hesketh Park they are used less frequently that Boris's comb. When the Town's shops/cafes/ restaurants are all gone you can cycle to your hearts content.

Nope, not unless they’re called ‘Editor’. The article has obviously been copied and pasted from Facebook.
Thanks for your concern, but I’ve never felt so more chilled out.
Just try and engage your brain in future posts, might save you the embarrassment of looking like a clueless fckwhit.

The nearest car park is 110 metres walk away in Wright Street, at the rear of the building next door to Rueters. If it takes 4 minutes to walk that far that's a walking speed of 1mph. Normal walking pace is 3-4mph.
