Jill Abramson an ex editor at the NY times said the times is biased and hurting the paper.
She said the same of the Washington post.
Finding a truly independent news source is hard work.
America has some bat crazy coverage from the left and straight out of the foil lined bunkers of the right.

Regarding post #30
President Trump tweets vindication. As if …
Abramson quickly pushed back against the president’s characterization of her book: “Anyone who reads my book, Merchants of Truth, will find I revere @nytimes and praise its tough coverage of you.” In an email to the Guardian, where she is a columnist, Abramson expanded on that tweet. “Donald Trump is echoing a piece on Fox News (surprise) that distorts and takes what I wrote totally out of context,” she wrote. “Both the NYT and [Washington Post] have had superb coverage of the corruption enveloping the Trump administration, the best investigative reporting I’ve seen. My book is full of praise for both papers.” Abramson was fired from the New York Times in 2014.
An indication of the extent to which the U S A has become polarized and 'the media ' has become a primary battle ground is evident in noting the search results for <Jill Abramson "media bias"> returns the many self-styled media watching web sites which latched-on to this alongside print and broadcast outlets whose own output is certainly skewed in favour of tax cuts, deregulation, corporate licence and gun rights.
And of course there is:
Jill Abramson an ex editor at the NY times said the times is biased and hurting the paper. | She said the same of the Washington post. | Finding a truly independent news source is hard work. | America has some bat crazy coverage from the left and straight out of the foil lined bunkers of the right.

This was a battle over fundamentals, a struggle over how best to gauge the trustworthiness of information. Media activists weren't suggesting there existed a world of objective media that they rejected and a world of ideological media that they promoted. They were arguing there was no such thing as nonideological media, that objectivity was a mask mainstream media used to hide their own ideological projects.
…When an outlet like the New York Times criticized a liberal policy, conservative media activists presented it not as evidence of the paper's even-handedness but as evidence of the policy's failure.

I'm afraid that the last 4 years has resulted in both left and right leaning media swinging to the far end of their politicial spectrum. I don't see this changing anytime soon. Despite that, as a regular reader of both papers, I wouldn't describe their coverage as bat crazy.
Both the NYT and the WaPo are still excellent publications. And in the field of investigative journalism, which is what Said was talking about, the subject is not necessarily political, or if it is political, it's not always about American politics. The NYT has received 130 Pulitzers, 3 of which were awarded in 2020. The WaPo has, up until 2018, received 65. Political ideology aside, it's quite an accolade.

Those posters you are referring to on Q local don't claim to have anonymous inside sources.
The more wary of Social Media users do not use QAnon for very good reason. It has only been set up since 2017 - whereas all the popular sites have been running for several years. It is not a serious media site.
This web site is a hoax trolling site, originating from 4Chan. It set out to pretend it had information leaked from various Government sources and then taking a rise out of these stories. No-one takes any of it seriously and it only really has a following in the
States.
It is also suspected as having been hijacked over the past year because whereas it only had a very small anonymous following previously - it suddenly hit the headlines when the American elections were taking place. Just as it was the CIA who introduced the term 'Conspiracy theorists' to renounce anyone who attempted to disprove their actions/reports etc., so it is believed that this site is being used in a similar way. The only people who do follow it are kids and easily led people. The original people who started it, are no longer on that site.

I don't know anything about Trump and I do not want to know - it's all to do with American Affairs. The President there is no more than the Fall Guy for everything that goes wrong. It is the Lobbyists who are being paid to control everything. I will follow the politics because that does unfortunately concern us - whatever idiot ideas congress comes up with, you can bet your bottom American dollar someone is going to have to pay dearly.

Didn't notice any Western newspapers getting any accolades. But wouldn't it be good if we did have investigative journalists again like NYT - to keep everyone on their toes.

Where do you think the US is... the Middle East? It's a Western country.
Assuming you meant to say British newspapers, I believe that you do have award winning papers. I can recall both the Financial Times and the Guardian receiving awards for investigative journalism.

Amen to that. Big business lobbies and donates obscene amounts of money to fund politicians/campaigns. Corporate America has the American government in the palm of its hand.
On the same topic, are you aware of how many former lobbyists are employed in the White House Administration?
All Presidents have appointed former lobbyists, but Trump is way outpacing Obama. By 2019 President 'Drain the Swamp' Trump had appointed 281 ex-lobbyists, that's 4 times more than Obama had appointed in 6 years. Yes, Trump drained the swamp, dug it deeper, and filled it again X 4 with fresh swamp creatures. Some of them are cabinet members who are responsible for areas they previously lobbied for. For example: an Environmental Protection Agency head who was previously employed as a lobbyist for the coal industry. Slight conflict of interest methinks.
Link below. ProPublica and Columbia also produce some good investigative reports.

Trump was such an irresponsible politician, putting votes for himself before the wellbeing of the planet.......Unfortunately, we've a clutch of the very same ilk right here in town. Putting votes for themselves at the forthcoming local elections, above any thought for the environment!

apocrypha — "Do the research" …?
"The way you know this power is not through expertise or through study, but simply through experience. You know it in your gut, as Trump likes to say. When I look at this, I see this as a powerful metaphor for Trumpism in the way in which it rejects expertise, elevates this self-knowledge, and it has an enemies list of institutions, so-called experts, those who know data, who are all getting in the way of the true divine, as revealed by President Trump.
…
"Recognize what is before your eyes and that which is hidden, will be revealed." "

There's been a gap in the market identified and GB News is seeking to fill that gap.

The pulitzer accolades are confirmation of bias
The Washington Post is of course owned by Jeff Bezos.
Who Trump comdemned for not paying enough taxes.

An instructive example:• discounting the credibility of non-favoured sources;
• an enemies list of institutions; and piling-on irony,
• broad side of barn selective blind spot!

Rather than resort to your standard trite response, perhaps you should actually view the reports that earned Pulitzers. I don't give a damn if it's a liberal or conservative publication. Whether it be at home or abroad, anything that brings attention to a wrong that needs to be righted has my vote. Maybe the Post's Nixon/Watergate investigation and subsequent Pulitzer should have been criticised because of their bias.
Take a look at the 2020 winners in the journalism category.

Grasping at straws there, Local. A 144 year old publication that's been owned by Bezos for 7 years.... and condemned for not paying enough taxes by a man who hasn't paid taxes for how many years?
Must try harder!
