Just as an aside: Cummings' son Cedd is named after an Anglo-Saxon saint who travelled to Northumbria and died of plague after infecting many others.
I honestly haven't made this up. Here.
I'm questioning reality now.

According to social media, yes. Not exactly a source of credible information.
If their son is autistic, the Cummings family are not beholden to broadcast it to the world. They may wish to keep it in the family. Who would want the world and his wife dissecting every aspect of their young child?

Many parents either have physical/mental challenges themselves, or have children who do. I came across the following article written by a man who has type 1 diabetes, plus physical constraints due to a car accident. His wife contracted Covid-19 first, then he caught it. They have two children, one of whom is autistic. They followed the government's guidelines. In their words, "to do otherwise would have been unthinkable". To people like this family, and the countless others who have experienced similar difficulties, condoning Cummings actions is a slap in the face.

Stop picking on the guy. OK, he's got poor eye-sight, and makes bad decisions BUT Boris loves him...or fears him..or something..

Read this tweet today:
Now significant evidence that Boris Johnson went over the heads of govt scientists to change the “Stay at Home” slogan to “Stay Alert” after Boris realised Dominic Cummings’ broken lockdown behavior would come to light.
Ponder the implications of this for a minute.

True though it is central to Dominic Cummings choices.

Thank you for the link.
I respect his decision and feel compassion for his situation.

It would certainly be an additional concern for them, just as it was an additional concern to all of the other parents of autistic children who were locked in with their children.
Dominic Cummings doesn't (or shouldn't) have any choices. Sorry, H, but the guidelines were crystal clear, with zero exceptions. I feel tremendous compassion for all of the parents who may have contracted the disease and had to isolate themselves along with their children. I was horrified when I first read the guidelines, but on reflection I could understand why it was considered necessary. I still find it distressing though.

No different to Communism or Socialism apart from the fact it plays out in real time instead of a nasty surprise after they have left.

More flexible? Can you explain why the quarantine location changes anything? Islington or Durham, his symptoms would have been the same, as would the length of time he was incapacitated. There were no job related advantages to quarantining in Durham.
It could also be argued that driving such a long distance at the onset of the disease, and driving home (half blind ) after the disease, was far more dangerous than quarantining in London. Plus the possibility of infecting a few proles along the way.
