Lee Fagan, 37, of Altcar Lane, Formby, was summonsed for the offence of causing death by careless driving, appearing at Preston Magistrates’ Court on February 18. His case will be tried at Preston Crown Court on 9 May next year.
When people are knocked off, the finger of blame is often pointed at cyclists for 'bringing it on themselves' via poor riding standards.......However, it's highly unlikely a police officer would be inviting an accident by acting the fool on a bike.

As you’ve already decided the driver is guilty, there seems little point in holding a trial. We should all be thankful that you and your love puppet don’t run the Country.

I didn't say that at all. The car, or even the bike, may have suffered a sudden catastrophic mechanical issue. If anyone knows how to ride safely and dress correctly, i.e. helmet, lights etc, when on a bike - it would be the police.

Reading between the lines, that’s exactly what you said. IF, and it’s a big IF, you really believe that the car or the bike “had suffered a sudden catastrophic mechanical issue” you could have said that in your first post. You deliberately indicated that the cyclist was a Police Officer, and therefore very unlikely to be at fault.

I said it was very unlikely he would have been acting the fool......I apportioned no blame to either party, however something obviously went drastically amiss.

FFS someone died due to an accident, the court case will attempt to determine if someone was careless or at fault, whatever the outcome point scoring will not rectify the situation.
I would very much doubt that neither the driver nor the cyclist set out to cause harm to anyone.
If your car collides with the vehicle in front it's your fault. In the eyes of the law you must have been driving too close. It doesn't matter if the car in front suddenly braked hard. It's still your fault.
In this case it's highly unlikely that the bike was overtaking the vehicle, so the same basic principle applies. The onus was on the vehicle driver to avoid the cyclist. Not the other way round. That's why this guy has been charged.
