Just the job for going shopping.
A new electric vehicle from Citreon being launched, ideal for going shopping, local deliveries or single person, can be charged in 3 hours from a domestic socket and only around £5k

After all, not everyone needs or even wants a high-performance luxury Tesla, if all they ever do is go to the store, etc.

Great for London and former Mill Towns.
Are they legal on motorways?

I hope not - the last thing we need is a load of these ambling along the M6 at 28mph!

No worries. Last time I looked, motorways were prohibited to vehicles travelling at less than 30mph.

That does all seem rather odd. Although a battery pack for that little thing with such a limited range, will be small and relatively inexpensive, compared to a big vehicle with a longer range.

Don’t worry it probably won’t make it between service stations for recharge.

Probably true, but all cars need replacing sooner or later. The price is a big attraction, where else can you find a new car for £6k? Incredibly low running cost and great environmental credentials are hard to ignore.
Ease of parking and manouvering, not to mention the small amount of space taken on a driveway all add up. I can see this type of vehicle being an attractive proposition, particularly for the older driver who no longer desires a high performance machine and is watching the pennies.

Yet another instance of your foot in mouth moments. There is no minimum speed limit on motorways, however the Police may report a slow driver with dangerous driving.
Just for your information, there are only four roads in the U.K. that currently have a minimum speed limit, the two Mersey Tunnels, and the two Dartford Tunnels, and the limit is 10mph.

You may be right. Though I still believe this wouldn't be allowed on the M/way, probably falling foul of the 50cc (or its electric equivalent) prohibition.
I remember when motorways first came out, they invented a series of rules to cover what you may or may not do.....Amongst which was 'no stopping'. The ones who dreamt that up, certainly had no idea how traffic would mushroom. Imagine how many 'no stopping' tickets the Police would be issuing now, with the stop-go nature of present day motorway travel!
