The money is being wasted because of the intransigent EU.

How would you like to leave any institution that wanted to retain control over you.

We trade with them we supply to their standards that is not a problem but they are trying to retain control over who else we deal with, how can you possibly support that.

It is essential for them to have some control over who and how we trade with other countries to prevent the UK being a back door for importation into the EU.

Why on earth do you want to cede sovereignty to the EU over our trade ?

EU treaties keep rolling powers to Brussels soon to include taxes.

Yet you have no say whatsoever over the European Commission (which is unelected) or the Council of Ministers (where the UK is out-voted)

If we did a deal with the EU on say Lamb which currently attracts a 40% tariff on imports into the EU then did a deal with NZ / Australia for a lower tariff the Lamb could then be unloaded at Tilbury and straight on to a train through the Channel Tunnel and the Tariff is evaded. The EU and their farmers would not be happy neither would the British Farmers.

We do have say in what goes on, we have as much say as anyone else.

Goods imported from the UK will be subject to customs inspection at the point of entry into the EU. Under FTAs with any country, all products will have to be certified as being of British origin. With a leg of lamb clearly marked "product of Australia or NZ", good luck with that!

If you leave with a trade deal, the EU can't dictate what your trade policies with other countries will be. But they will have measures in place, such as inspections, to ensure that you're not fraudulently classifying goods as being of British origin.

The UK's greatest export is services. The EU does not affect this trade so the EU is a costly surplus to our needs.

The country of origin is deemed to be the last country it was 'processed' in so you could import lamb carcasses, butcher them and sell it as British.

You are confusing two separate points any customer wants what they want to their standards that is normal trade.

Their wanting control over our trade with other customers is the problem with the EU.

The USA have only one focus - money, money, money! If it was the UK applying these advertising sources to the USA, you can bet your boots the Americans would be charging a much higher rate of tax to the UK. All American commodities sold in the UK cost far more than any other. No - any company that gains profits from dealing in the UK, whether based abroad or not, should pay taxes to the UK.
