The government has announced that it will attempt to bring vaccine passports into use in September, if it is felt that a system of vaccine passports is desirable why wait until September, if relaxing COVID controls is going to lead to an increase in spread, by September it will already be far to late.

Words like horses and stable doors spring to mind.

Last week there was a drop in jab uptake in young people walk in vaccination centres her in the North.
I know there was a rise of uptake last Friday/weekend after news items
on Covid and long Covid.

Having these 'Passports' is a complete waste of time and effort, everybody will find a way around it by sharing someone elses or forging one, they will probably be readily available on Ebay. Businesses will not want to turn away any trade so will not look too closely and to do so would increase staffing costs. It is just the Governments usual half arsed attempt to make people do something by 'threatening' something which they know that can't be done or they have no intention of doing.

They do work.
We recently went on a (around) the UK cruise.
Checking in we had to supply proof of double jab downloaded from the nhs app plus wait for the result of a covid test done on the spot.

The nhs app has your unique nhs number.

I'm in two minds about this.

On the one hand I agree with SF, anybody who stands to make a profit will attempt to forge whatever the 'passports' turn out to be.

On the other, surely those who present far less threat to the population than those who are unvaccinated should be given greater freedom.

I suppose it depends what form the passport takes. A digital passport would be less easy to fake. But not everyone, particularly the elderly, might not have the tech required - say a smartphone.

We have items in our everyday life that aren't easy to forge. We have passports, driver's licence, bank cards. Maybe a digital card, like a credit card, would be cheap enough to produce to give to the double jabbed? It's something we all carry around and rarely leave home without.

nhs Covid double jab matching your nhs number plus other form of identification will work.

Most venue's ask that you leave Covid contact details.
I have watched elderly couples do it in M&S cafe without a mobile phone.

Another form of identification plus Covid jab card and they will be in!

I'm surprised people are - well, surprised!

Low take up within a certain age group, a desire to behave in a certain manner within that same age group, requirements placed on that age group in order to enjoy behaving in a certain manner - it was a no brainer!

Many people particularly the older folks still use old phones and nany couples still share.
