If the proposals ever get that far, the provision of convenient car-parks would be useful all week round, not just on the car free day. So, we may well see less daily congestion in popular spots as a result.
The delusion continues unabated.

Yes! Forget the whole silly idea. Tourism operators in your proposed areas are not going to thank anybody for effectively closing down their business, one day every week. Why not just concentrate on solving the forest destruction problem that you and your ilk are determined to achieve?
Just be yourself, no one else is better qualified!!

With more cars constantly appearing, that's unlikely to happen. It seems the 'success' of the car is becoming the very reason for its own downfall!
Personally, I'd find it so cool if the only permitted forms of transport in the car-free zones (apart from bikes) were horsedrawn....How quaint it would be, to wind the clock back to those glorious days of yore, when visitors were conveyed in buggies and traps, etc.

Anyone coming out for a bike ride down the coast rd tonight, even horses are not daft enough to go out in this, maybe they should shut all the shops in town tomorrow until it’s safe enough for us all to bicycle to them.

Quality wind-up!
(The 'Saids' could learn a thing or two from it.)

Disagree.....Read my post #20 again, where I mention that I park near the A590 (A6 end) and ride the rest of the way, e.g. to Lakeside, Bowness, etc. In other words, it's not my vehicle that's responsible for clogging up the tourist traps and beauty spots.
Therefore, the clogging-up (by private car) problem of those places is not down to me at all,
but to the typical lazy motorist. The type of guy who wants all the tarmac for himself 24/7 and begrudges any other group of visitor even a single days look-in!

I don't have a clue what pleasure you get out of the Pony & Trap you keep posting but that is down to Thatcher closing all the Lunatic Asylums and letting them mix with sane people.
I suppose you have an imaginary bike shop and a car crushing facility in your padded cell.
