I'm surprised to say that I agree with you. Not particularly about the USA and EU, but about following the money. Although, having said that, I think the government has done well when it has come to supporting the nation with the furlough scheme and supporting small businesses. Even Tories can see the benefit of socialism in times of crisis...
I don't know what the media has to do with it. The daily briefings usually provide us with information about hospitals, deaths etc. It is regrettable that so many treatments for conditions other than Coronavirus have been cancelled, but that really couldn't be helped. Not without the right PPE for starters. Then there is the amount of people in hospital for other treatments. You must have seen any hospital on a regular day, pretty much crawling with patients and visitors. That had to be stopped in light of a pandemic.
I suppose you take your chances as you see fit. If you were in a deserted area, then you're unlikely to catch it or spread it. People can use their own judgement. If you're on a beach with a lot of other people, you're an idiot. If the place is virtually empty with no chance of infection, that's a different story. The problem, particularly over the past few weeks, have been morons cramming into towns, beaches, beauty spots where not only is the chance of infection higher, the chance of you passing it on to innocent people is higher.
This weekend has been ridiculous in town and around the pier areas. I couldn't give a shiny shite if they infect each other. But for those of us who live nearby and decide we can't to enjoy our neighbourhood, it's quite galling.
Two purely hypothetical questions. What if there was no actual 'new' virus, but you were made to believe that there was? How would you feel when you learned the truth?

I do hope you're going to suggest answers to your hypotheticals. I'm dead curious to learn where you're going with those.

A world wide conspiracy, thousands of additional deaths, all invented, sure I’ll buy that??

Hypothetical. But what if the deaths were due to normal events?

Depends really. Have hundreds of thousands of people extra died worldwide in your scenario? Because I'd want to know why they'd died.
If it's a worldwide conspiracy, involving hundreds of governments, health systems, right down to nurses and doctors, I'd want to know who, why and how. I mean, the magnitude of that makes faking the moon landing look like a petty 'find the lady' street grifter operation
So I'd be questioning the moon landings.
It would be one impressive con job. Very impressive.
But why? What reason would there be?

Like being captured by Martians or eaten by the Loch Ness Monster, perhaps that is why Scotland is still on Lockdown!

I paddled in Loch Ness once, on a dare. Of course I don't believe in Nessie, but when a stray weed touched my foot, I walked on water.
Never moved so fast. Like this, only faster. And he's better dressed:

Before you go any further, you had better elaborate on what constitutes "normal events" in your strange view of things.

Thanks for that. People often use LOL when they don't actually do it. I did, and very loud. Better dressed or not, in future it's the way I will always picture you... and I'm still bloody laughing

It's a fair depiction

That is where you are wrong. The UK and the USA, true! But Russia and Brazil's economies have risen.
No they haven't. Russia's economy is down by 1/3 due to Covid-19. A drop in oil prices, plus a crash in domestic/global demand for oil, has rocked the Russian economy.
Brazil's economy is also expected to have decreased in the first quarter. The second quarter is expected to be worse, triggering a recession.
Every country will suffer the economic consequences of locking down its citizens and closing non essential businesses. What do you think the components of GDP are?

You have been pushing this line from the outset of the pandemic, surprising though it may seem to you, you are in a definite minority.

I'm still waiting for this 'theory'. Not one government in the entire world declaring it's a hoax. A few of the anti-vaxxer - flat earth types blaming 5G. Even the Lord High Lunatic Alex Jones not uttering a word, apart from trying to con people into buying 'cures'.
Hoping it's going to be at least mildly amusing.
