"But insecure people need attention, they need to know people realise they exist, and now that is not happening unless they can create some diversion to get attention. That is the reason why there are so many of these people in theatre, show business even Westminster etc., they get noticed!"
Blimey i actually read that I feel the need for counselling.

I absolutely agree and receiving a 'pardon' in 2013 was a late bit of justice.
Turing was prosecuted in 1952 for homosexual acts; the Labouchere Amendment of 1885 had mandated that "gross indecency" was a criminal offence in the UK. He accepted chemical castration treatment, with DES, as an alternative to prison.
Turing killed himself with Cyanide 2 years later.

My grandson's girlfriend volunteers for 'Childline'. I commented just yesterday that she must be a strong woman to cope with some of the horrific calls she has to deal with. He told me that the majority of the calls aren't from abused kids, but from teenagers who are too terrified to tell their parents and friends they are LBGT.
It is wonderful that Alan Turing is being recognised as a true hero and a giant among men, shortening the war by a couple of years, potentially saving millions of lives. But also very sad that as a society, we haven't progressed enough in 60-odd years that our kids don't feel they will be accepted merely for being gay.

Surely you can't be that surprised - given some of the posts on here from the knuckle dragging 'real men'?
And yes - I will stop calling you Surely.

To lighten the mood a little -
Years ago I saw this in a book on graffiti - sprayed on a wall was -
' my mother made me a homosexual ' sprayed underneath -
' if I get her the wool will she make me one?'

That is sad.
The next generation will be more tolerant thank goodness.

Its strange and sad that kids still feel tormented over their sexuality, homosexuality has become almost a so what feeling for most.
Maybe its a primal instinct that we must procreate that kicks in,
we clearly don't the world is bursting with people.
Perhaps its subliminal societal pressures that endure and that's where we need to see what we can do.

I think the 'primal instinct' derives from the so called 'real men' having had a 'what if' moment and, that the knuckle dragging acts as a primitive purge mechanism.

To portray the non acceptance of some peoples sexual orientation as a male only domain is unhelpful and inaccurate.
The desire to procreate to perpetuate the species is something in most of us, many single sex couples seek to have children.

I agree. See, we can agree if the subject isn't a certain Tory MP
It isn't a male only domain. Homophobia occurs with women too. Less so than men, according to polls, but it is still there.
I don't know if it is stupidity, ignorance, religion or an inkling that deep down they might enjoy that kind of thing. But I'd bet it's always one or two of those.
As for having kids, I'd say that most same sex couples I know, once they hit their 30s or so, have a child in their family. More so with women, as it's obviously easier to achieve, but some men too. Step-dads, adoption, or from straight relationships previously. The idea that LGBT people don't have families is bizarre.
I'd say that the biggest difference between so-called straight families and LGBT families is that the kid is always wanted, rarely an 'accident'.

Don't go all luvvy duvy on me there's still the orange man oh and my latest post on the MP has thrown a few tacks under my pursuers vehicles.
Aside from that your right homophobia is alive and kicking with men and women, nature has programmed parents to have children who go on to have children, in the mix is white weddings and baby clothes all with the family genes carried along.
Joe and Joe or Jane and Jane brings that skidding to a halt.
Nature hasn't got round to our new way of thinking.
We can literally afford to let people be what they want to be poorer countries often don't have that luxury.
