Thai Bride
A few years ago there was a fad among middle aged men to seek a Thai bride. Some still do, but the 'fashion' has worn off a bit. The reason for this is mainly due to language problems - it takes a few years for someone from Thailand to learn English well. Another problem is that men who bring young brides to the UK find that they are tied completely because the girl is young, does not understand the language in a foreign country and relies totally on the one man. So it is as if they are glued together for the first few years. Not to be ignored, is the fact that the family of the girl expect to receive a dowry that can be anything up to £25 thousand for a young, educated virgin. Many of the relationships do not last because although Thai girls can be very glamorous when young - they do not age well, and having become used to being lavished with presents etc., become too demanding as they grow older.
Unfortunately, that is just the good part. Stories like:

are very common, and even he can think himself lucky!

But then again -

Would you consider a Thai bride? Or perhaps you are already involved in such a marriage and have a different opinion.

Thai women are known for their attentiveness towards others, in particular towards males/husbands.....The best stewardess service I have received aboard any plane was on a Thai Air flight. Amongst other little touches, during flight their most charming cabin girls presented us all with beautiful individual orchids!

i think it shows more how society is going these days, along with its loss of respect and embrace of consumer lead satisfaction in all areas of life!it shows how much we have lost in our interaction with each oter at a face to face level in our daily lives.the nets grass is greener seeking newness that feeds off societys increasing sense of isolation and alienation from our fellows.weve become so fragmented and insidiously isolated these days ,yet all are inside seeking the same sense of belonging .neededness and respectful embrace of being with each other.but then guess am just a soft s...e at heart.

Cabin girls? If you referred to me as a cabin girl, I'd plant the orchid somewhere painful. Maybe your flight was in the 50s, but we've moved on since then.

In Thailand paying a dowry is not always affordable for Thai Men.
Thai women looked to the West hence the tradition of Sin Sod continues.

Never heard the expression "cabin girls" before ?
Trolley Dolly, Flight Attendant, Air Hostess and Air/Cabin Steward/Stewardess
I guess now, as we have both male and female (or a bit of both) a gender neutral title such as cabin staff is more appropriate ?

I always hope for a Ladyboy.
On a ship one gets a Cabin Attendant the sex of which is always a surprise whatever the name card left.

I know quite a few old men who've either gone off to Thailand to basically buy women, or bought a Thai bride. And there are a few regularly go to Thailand, alone, whom I dread to think why they are going there. It isn't for the scenery.
To a man, they were all over 50, all convinced that the women actually found these men, some 20-30+ years older than them, highly attractive. All thought the Thai women were wonderfully friendly and absolutely loved these creepy old men from the west.
So much better than western women. So compliant and attentive.
Right?
Then when they've bought these poverty stricken human beings, mainly from desperately poor families, they wonder why they get fleeced? Get real, fellas. No Thai woman thinks you are lovely and handsome. You're a wrinkly old wallet on legs, and you deserve all you get. There's a really good reason you can't get a western woman young enough to be your daughter or granddaughter.
But to Thai women, you're a handsome, virile silver fox, aren't you?
A bit like those silly old women that think their Turkish waiters have fallen deeply, deeply in love with them on a week away to Bodrum...
PMSL. Sad twunts.

1989! That was only about 10 years ago, wasn't it?
At least Tom Conti wasn't after a fat wedge of cash or a British passport.
