Far too often? Imo, a new cycle-lane is a rarity and an event that could never be described as happening 'often'. Which is of course at the crux of the matter. Namely, that an odd disembodied lane or two will never tempt more than a few out of their motorised tin boxes.....
Give the people a properly integrated network of safe cycleways, then see what happens to cyclist numbers!

There are many factors involved and they aren't to be solved by cluttering this town or any other with vacant unused cycle tracks.

I don’t expect anyone to share or agree with my views. All I’m doing is supporting the stance that we are in a climate emergency and it needs to be acted on. All those against active travel are ignorant of what’s happening now, and how bad it’ll be in the near future. We have to start somewhere, doing nothing is not an option. Roads are for everyone, not just drivers. So learn to share.
Unlike this idiot from MHH Contracting…

This is what cyclist have to risk every time they go out. Attempted Murder.
A bit of paint isn’t infrastructure, physical separation is the only option. We separate pedestrians and drivers, but we put cyclists right in the firing line. How does that make sense…..
So come on, what’s your solution.? What’s your plan.?

Nothing whatsoever! At least not in the numbers you're hoping for. Dream on.

Really? Odd isn't it, that in countries where such a facility exists, the percentage of trips made by bike are more than ten times the figures here.....

........Possibly the reason for that is there are 10x MORE cyclists in other Countries than there is on a small island like the UK with 62 million people on it............By the way "There are 9 million bicycles in Beijing".....That's a fact.....It's a thing we can't deny....Beijing (China) is 11 times as big as London (UK) And it has a population of 19.6 million

I believe there are a considerable number of 'cyclists' in the UK too, depending how you define cyclist....If you mean people who have learnt to ride a bike, then there are plenty. If you mean people/households that own a bike, again there are plenty. But if you mean only people who regularly use a bike, then there are very much fewer.
Re Beijing. There may be 9 million bikes there, but not so many are in use nowadays. Reason being, their roads have filled up with cars, making cycling less safe. Which as it has done elsewhere, greatly discourages riders.

No, what it means is, don’t waste valuable resources on cycle lanes that, (a) won’t be fully utilised, and (b) will reduce road widths, which in turn will lead to congestion, which ultimately causes more pollution.

Valuable resources? The money is from central government if that's the resources you're worried about. If you really want to save the planets resources, then supporting active travel is the way to go. You know it, you're just to dumb to accept it.

If you're going to quote stats, at least get the numbers correct......

You obviously have a low opinion of our local motorists #Climate Conscience, if you think all of them will continue driving for every little trip, despite the provision of alternative safe infrastructure.

Yes, I’m fully aware the the money is coming from Central Government, that doesn’t mean it should be wasted. Despite the false claims from Sefton Council, the cycle installed on Queens Road and Hoghton Street are vastly under used, and as such, are a waste of valuable resources.
As for you calling me dumb, that’s really rich coming from you..
