How are all these folks catching Covid ?

    17,000 + today alone !

Surely they can't all be folks not wearing a mask, therefore a large number must be mask wearers - but what type of mask, the medical type (which do offer some protection) or the pretty ones that 'Karen' makes instead of making bath bombs etc :-) that offer no protection, or the plastic face shields that again offer no protection ?

So, just how are all these folk catching the virus?

It is a good question and why does it seem certain sectors of the population are more susceptible.

Those who blame the "guvvernment" for the high death rate should be asking themselves the same questions but I suspect they will veer off into well worn but specious soundbites very quickly.

The well worn disadvantaged etc clearly isn't true there are plenty of poor people in Cornwall and an awful lot of homeless still about.

The government should release much more data from the NHS.

“You reap what you sow” during lockdown the numbers came down and levelled off, most people stuck to the government’s advice.

Then the economy became the focus, “eat out to help out”, get down the pubs, etc, then the real problem, get the kids back into school, college and university at any costs.

Newcastle university had 1000 positive cases in one day, all the cities that have been listed recently are large university cities, one primary school in Southport currently have a third of the staff off and two year groups sent home.

Then you have the totally irresponsible individuals who have had organised house party’s / raves, so not difficult to see just how the numbers are rising.

The majority of cases seem to be in the under 30 age group who are less prone to complications and serious problems, the danger is they will pass it on to their parents, grandparents and elderly relatives.

The virus is spread by people.

If people are not following the rules the virus will spread.

You only have yourselfs to blamb.

    Follow the rules.

It's obvious. The safety measures are totally useless, they are not working! Almost everyone is safe distancing, wearing masks using hand sanitiser constantly yet the claimed number of cases are increasing alarmingly. So either the measures in place are not working - or the given statistics are totally wrong. Depends on what you believe really.

I'd say most transmission is among families and friends who aren't following social distancing rules.

And as H said, all the things you touch outside the home. It was incredible how many things I touched (including titties, bums and todgers, which upset some of the other bus passengers, delighted others) on a recent trip to Ormskirk.

Again yesterday, between M&S, Costa & the card shop, I must have touched hundreds of things. Browsing cards, cups, spoons, trays in the coffee shop. I'm hysterical about antibac, so use it in and out of every shop, but I realised that in Costa the assistant touched the top of my cup with her hand, and the spoon. I'm not complaining about it, simply listing so many ways we can transmit it without a thought, even wearing masks.

I read recently that the virus can live on some surfaces for weeks.

Also, the science seems to change one week to the next. In March the WHO wasn't too fussed about masks, now they are priority. I think pre-vaccine, the most important tool against the virus is simple common sense.

That should be a simple question for anyone to answer - but not for you.

If you confirm that it does include you, then it also confirms that dozens upon dozens upon dozens of your posts on this Forum this year to have been from a mean-spirited hypocrite who's been committed to downplaying and dismissing the virus to others - all while in your own life actually taking preventive measures for yourself.

If you confirm that it doesn't include you, then you answer the question of this thread: folk are catching Covid because of people like you.

The button to cross on a Zebra
Doors-not all can be opened with my elbow.

Shopping is difficult trying not to touch the packet before seeing the date.
Shelf stackers put shortest date at the front.

I see people sitting on benches eating takeaway snacks.
Those hands having touched objects touches food in the mouth
    on the M1 to infection.

I'm a 'knuckle on the button' type of gal.

Coincidentally, between these two posts, we just got a delivery of some beers. Him indoors grabbed the crates, put them away and touched about 7 different surfaces before washing his hands. He managed to grab two handles on an exercise bike (why?), a couple of door knobs, a light switch, a magazine and a pen. Which he'll be chewing on in a while.

It's hard enough to avoid outside the home, but when you're apparently living with a super-spreader...

Spreader isn't happy now the entire house smells of Dettol spray. Of course it's highly unlikely that the delivery chap or the warehouse people were carrying the virus. But if someone had used some of that fluorescent paint to see how easy it is to spread something our house would be glowing like Chernobyl.

    I guess it's that easy.
