Don't know what's happened to previous posts re: Maurice Evans Christmas grave pots pics as I usually post pics each year when the pots have been placed for Maurice, we will always remember him, it was Maurice who set our mum & dad up on a blind date, if it wasn't for him we wouldn't be here!!! Merry Christmas Maurice x

I think there used to be a plaque dedicated to him on the wall at the bottom of the stairs in the YMCA. And could that have been his helmet in the botanic gardens museum?. ( not sure )

I dislike climbing ladders at the best of times - that particular one looks like my worst nightmare! Maurice must have been a very brave man to even attempt it - even without any wind!

I know for a fact a poster.. Tough old bird .. will be able to tell you, a couple of years ago she asked me to move stuff from there and we went all around the place, cellars and everywhere. Stuff is being sent off to different museums and the like and probably mostly gone by now, it was very interesting down there, I am sure I remember that helmet still there as I remember fondly as a child my nan would often take me to the museum and proudly tell me the helmet was of a distant relative, I was very young and can still remember the drinking fountains working in Hesketh park.

My dad made a promise that Maurice wouldn't be forgotten, now both my parents have gone it's now up to my brothers & myself to continue that promise, if it hadn't been for Maurice our parents wouldn't have got together & we wouldn't be here either lol. I don't know where previous years posts have gone as I post pics every year of the pots we place, sad that the posts have vanished, 10 years of posts have gone.
Merry Christmas & a happy new year Di, I hope it's a good one xx

Barrie is fine, I keep in contact with him regarding Maurice & last year we had a remembrance service at the grave as it was 60 years since Maurice had died, Barrie helped to organise it, I felt very proud of the people who attended that day x

When N7 Southport had 3 whole time fire appliances, one of them was called Maurice Evans (N7.3 I think) and each one had a plaque bearing its name at the front of the engine.
I suppose it has been lost now that we only have 1 whole time appliance with N7.2 and the CPL being 'retained'. Let's hope that the Maurice Evans plaque has found its way into a fire service museum. Does anyone know if this is the case?
