If we have read this correctly from 111 page report today by Sefton Council ' Southport Walking and Cycling Consultation and Active Travel Tranche 2' then it looks like the council would like further consultation on these proposals.
You can read the FULL REPORT HERE
As stated in the report ....
In summary we will;
- Deliver a leaflet to properties along the route which tells people about the walking
and cycling route in simple language. The leaflet will tell people how they can tell
us their views and opinions - We will offer the leaflet in alternative formats so everyone can understand what it
means for them - We will issue a press release so that people who are not online or do not live
directly along the route will get to know about the walking and cycling route and
know how to tell us their views and opinions - We will have a place where people can go on-line and tell us their thoughts, we will also have a telephone number people can call to tell us their thoughts too
- We will engage with business owners and big attractors and find out their thoughts
- We will engage with the Emergency Services on our plans before the statutory
process - We will engage with people who are not often represented in our consultations, via user groups and interest groups
- We will write a report which summarises the results and this will be available for all to see on our website once approved
Where to find out more;
When we have started our engagement you will find all the information
here; www.sefton.gov.uk/Southportwalkcycle, you will also be able to email us
on transport.planning@sefton.gov.uk. We will use the following twitter accounts –
@SeftonCouncil and @ActiveTravelSefton
Extracts from the report as follows:

In addition correspondence was received by e-mail and letter

- Improve air quality / reduce pollution from vehicles
- Reduce traffic noise
- Reduce traffic congestion / traffic jams

Amazingly consistent 'not happy at all' replies to any-and-every proposal to increase safety for the towns pedestrians and cyclists.....Those who responded in that way must lead incredibly sedentary lives, habitually avoiding walking or cycling even for the very shortest of trips.
Now, I don't suppose they were all climate-crisis-denying motorists by any chance?

Let's put it this way: How many pedestrians and cyclists are going to vote against something clearly designed to help them get from A to B more safely?

In other words, ride roughshod over the wishes of the majority of those residents that expressed an opinion. Is that how democracy works in the eyes of a cycling bigot?

Democracy mate, 'works' at the ballot box where the people of Britain voted this Govt in. A progressive Govt that is funding these schemes. And the people of Sefton voted this present Council in. A Council that is implementing these schemes.....That fyi, is how democracy works - not via a small Facebook group that tries to skew the results of a survey, intent on thwarting the will of the people - duh!

How do people manage to read and digest 111 pages so quickly before commenting?

There appears to be lots of unhappy people in Southport. Wait until they experience the sh*t-show that nature is going to throw at us with climate change. They’ll be extremely unhappy about that, but they won’t take any responsibility, won’t admit they were wrong, but will blame the government, and the council, and they’ll keep on driving 1/2 mile to buy their fags and booze.
We have to change, we have to be better, we have to provide a future for our children and grand children. We owe it to them to leave this world a habitable place.

The majority of those residents haven’t a clue what they’ve clicked. Just No no no without a care for anything or anyone else. Very selfish me me me, not in my backyard.
Why wouldn’t you choose quieter, safer alternatives, that help to save the planet?
Buy a car, to sit in the queue, to get to the job, and work long hours, to pay for the car. Wow that makes sense. All to just keep up with the neighbours and friends, and appear to be successful. Drive a machine to the gym, to run on a machine for 20 mins and yet complain when there’s so much traffic it takes you longer to get there than the time you spend there…..
If you cycle or walk, you’re not successful or worthy of safe passage apparently.
These selfish people live among us.

So that will be the Government and the same democracy that voted for Brexit then.
You can’t pick and choose what is and what isn’t democratic.

And what evidence do you have that this was the case? You are thwarting the will of the people, of those who have responded to this survery. It clearly states that those who responded to the survey do NOT want any of the plans put forward to be realised.
THIS is how democracy works, not in your warped twisted mind to have things your own way every single time and sod everyone else.
As for cycling... I saw a young man on his bike cycling down Hoghton Street last night - on the pavement all the way!! No lights on at all front or rear. The cycle lane is right next to him and he still couldn't use it!
And you wonder why we get angry and frustrated!

Would you care to back up that stupid moronic bull***** with some actual evidence?
You may or may not be PNP posting in a different name, but you’re as sure as hell as stupid and bigoted as he is.
