Babs
No the Bowling Alley we went to was Tuebrook, Liverpool, it was 1957 thru 1963. There was a pub in Southport that had a Cheese Skittle Alley but for the life of I can't remember where or the name it even have been a club

Rossis
The people that owned Rossis were related to Francis Rossi of Status Quo fame.
The Vic Dive was too scary to venture down to, but I did take a peep once, however the bar upstairs was very nice and quiet, was excellent for a "swift" prior to attending the "Somewhere Else" Now there's a place, has it ever been mentioned on here ?

Are you sure about the relationship? There was/is another Branch of Rossi's and it is/was in Bishop Auckland. Hector was the son and the icecream maker of the Southport branch. His wife was a Southport girl I cannot recall her name but she was very much taller than Hector

Rossi
The daughter of the said couple laid claim to the relationship whilst at the High School. She insisted that they were related. Whether this is true or not I can not confirm but I have just looked on a web site that confirms that Francis Rossi was from an Ice Cream family.

Rossi's also have at least 2 ice cream outlets in Southend-on-Sea.
On a similar note I was once in a pub in Gravesend in Kent when a Kershaw's man came in shouting "shrimps, prawns, cockles" - it was just like being at home.

There is/was anther Rossi Ice Cream there in Southend High St close to Gannons if that is still there. That Rossi though is not connected to the Southport one. Same Family Different Branch.
I can remember the Cockle Sales Spiv's even during the War selling their wares on the Prom in Southend. My mum worked for the American Red X in Southends answer to Pleasure land The Kursal
