A fight! It's an Irish term taken from the Donnybrook Fair which was noted for its brawls.

In the late 60s my father in law had the little shooter stall and was the secretary for the amusement caterers association, and in the early 70s sold it and had the kiosk at the ribble bus station.

one of my everlasting memories from the pleasureland of the fifties was we as young men, trying to score a goal from about 15 yards past a goalkeeper into a goal that was about 2 yards wide, with a ball that wasn't even blown up properly, & if you scored you got your money back,& also throwing wooden balls at a bullseye that was about as big as the ball & if you hit it a trap would open & a man would fall into the water amidst great cheering & shouting,in them days it wasn't the taking part, it was the winning,g'day from us in oz.

Yes,
I remember both of these people , I worked for Jeremy for about 4 summer seasons.
The pay was awful but we had a great laugh and there was always a pretty girl working in Johns tea bar that we could chat up.
Does anyone remember Brian Longworth he worked on the Caterpillar for many years he used to walk with a limp and always had an german shepherd dog with him on the ride.
Unfortunatly Brian died a few years back.

Yes I had been trying to place exactly where the paddling pool was hence the thread I started a while back, that answers completely!
Can't beleive the looping star was 84-86!

What is the pier-like structure jutting into the middle of the pool? I remember there being a structure fixed to the pool bottom around that spot that was shaped like a boat and had a wooden deck - I think it was commonly known as "the raft".
Its interesting to see that the Colonnade roller skating rink in Princes Part appears to have been demolished at that time but not replaced by the current eyesore.
Pleasureland looks a bit pathetic by current theme park standards!

I would put this photo between 1985 - 1987.
That was the time The Looping Star Rollercoaster was situated in the carpark and I'm sure that's the ride you can see on the right of the photo.
