Having the vaccine offers a certain amount of protection. It hopefully prevents the death or hospitalisation of anyone who gets infected. It isn't entirely altruistic, but for me there's a lot of that in there. The vaccine reduces the chance of infecting others. I have elderly relatives that I'd hate to infect.

I'd hate to infect anyone. That's why I still wear a mask indoors in public spaces. I get the odd comment, or funny look. But most decent folk I know still wear them. Not only that, it keeps my face warm, and the grunting idiots can't quite tell if I've just called them a selfish see you next Tuesday (I always do).

But even the mask wearing is reducing. I see fewer people wearing them week by week.

I don't really care that much if the idiots like Piers Corbyn and his band of brainwashed Neanderthals all drop of it tomorrow, if it spares the rest. Unless there is a medical reason for not having the vaccine, the only one of which is an allergy to the ingredients, I see the unvaccinated as nothing but a danger to the majority.

In much the same way I'd have a mad dog put down, I have zero sympathy for those vaccine deniers who get ill or worse. I feel for their families, but not those posing a sometimes deadly danger to the rest.

There weren't the tests available for those in hospital so they were sent to care homes to be looked after.

Some homes did a fantastic job under great strain others didn't.

The medical staff didn't know that asymptomatic people were at such a risk, they were sending people to care homes as staying in hospital was the greater risk.

Hospital-acquired Covid numbers around 12,000 deaths.

Vaccine hesitancy and in some cases irrational obstinancy is a problem for a free society.

The science doesn't support the anti-vaxxers, the odds don't support them,
the virus though is taking them slowly which does seem to be apposite but harsh.

I am going for my third "Booster"vaccine on Saturday, but my wife HAS to have a 3rd Covid injection on Saturday, this is BEFORE she can have the "Booster" which will be in 6 months, due to having had a stem-cell procedure last August, and says she was frightened to have these other injections, with reading the different news items regarding them, but fortunately is willing to have to go ahead and have them for her OWN safety when going anywhere, and it is the NOT knowing if people HAVE had the virus,or any form of vaccination if they happened to get too close whilst out shopping etc which could effect her own health,.

Don't think Tesco will be unduly alarmed, other Tesco shoppers probably made up that anti vaxxers are going elsewhere, all we need now is for the anti vaxxers to tell us where they are going, then the rest can avoid them.

These idiots don't understand what propaganda is, using facts, truth is not propaganda, repeating lies, misinformation and conspiracy theories is propaganda.

You can have a dozen vaccinations and you would not be protecting others - you don't get it, do you? A mild infection with symptoms less than a common cold that 99.6% of the population are immune to.
Tuberculosis, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitus A,B & C, Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough, Influenza etc., etc., all on the increase - what good is your vaccination that does not prevent people from catching Covid nor its variations.

Vaccinations said to kill viruses?? If they did that you would be dead anyway - humans need certain 'good' viruses to survive, and such vaccinations don't differentiate between them.

Still, if having vaccinations and wearing a mask makes you feel virtuous, and going around clapping for the NHS every Thursday evening - you should be a very happy soul.

I am sorry to hear that - the procedure has several nasty side effects. If your wife is still feeling poorly it is better that she stays away from crowded places until she is feeling better because she needs to rebuild her immune system.

As the weather turns cooler and more humid, there are a lot of infections about - especially the common cold at present.

The vaccination will not harm either you or your wife - they would not be able to sell any if it got around that they were harmful.

Oh no Prof your having a go at science again and getting it wrong, again.

    When will you learn?

Look up vaccinations accelerate viral clearance, for a start.
So your infectious for a shorter period helping to reduce spread.

And the publishers of the Lancet are?? Who in turn are financed by?? You have to know your science, and even more your politics, before you can quote true facts.

Elsevier publishes the Lancet. Elsevier is a sub. of RELX. They are both publicly listed companies. What do you mean when you ask 'who are they financed by'? They are owned by shareholders, which are a mix of institutional investors, mutual fund holders and the general public. Are you getting mixed up?

I read about this yesterday. Tesco just got a whole lot safer to shop in.

    Result!

A lot of people getting very upset about a fictional character showing a fictional vaccine passport. Not to get into Tesco, but to get into the country. Isn't that a requirement? But that isn't the best of it.

Apparently there's a demonic door knocker which symbolises Freemasonry (nothing to do with 'A Christmas Carol' obvs). Not entirely sure that Freemasons are evil. Middle aged blokes from almost every business in town, meeting up, wearing pinnies and raising money for local hospices. Wicked.

And a scene where a horned man lights 13 Christmas puddings. Which is, allegedly, mocking Jesus and the 12 disciples.

Then the gran on an electric scooter is promoting a 'green agenda'. So the whole thing is evil, but they also want to save the planet.

Hasn't occurred to the swivel-eyed loons that it simply depicts the trials of living through the past 18 months.

I think it's a great ad, and if it winds up the anti-vax ****ers then so much the better.

    Every little helps.

    Oh f*(k off.

Nobody said vaccines kill viruses. Even the most ignorant fool should know how vaccines work.

Yes, having vaccines has probably saved my life over and over in the past 50-odd years. Diseases on the increase is due to unvaccinated people spreading them.

I don't need to feel virtuous, and I am a happy soul. So once again, I'll happily say take your antivax bull$h!t and shove it where the sun don't shine. Right near to the site of your tetanus jab.

    But Prof,

what you are surely looking for is whose research it is,

not the publisher, the study was in many publications and a lot of the media.

I am beginning to suspect the formality of your scientific education.

Eventually, it will be chiselled out on tablets of stone or written on papyrus for you to study by tallow lamp.
