TBF I'd be quite happy with being in the Single Market & Customs Union.

Geography dictates that EU membership, or failing that 'virtual' membership, is more or less essential. Which of course, is why we ended up joining in the first place. Imo, it's only a matter of time before the UK effectively 'rejoins' in some form.

It's a bloody long way from sorted though.

I hear 'Pork Markets' is already squealing about Article 16, no doubt to appear tough and more Thatcherite.

Thing is, it does have to get sorted. The GFA has to be upheld.

Norway style is the way to go. If a few Gammon explode along the way, tough titty. Or 'No Deal', with all that entails.

A) Whatever is done by man, can also be undone by man!

B) That same fact, provides a great deal of scope when it comes to finalising our relationship with the EU.

Imagine the scene at the next Gen Elec, when disillusioned with so many broken Tory levelling-up promises, Northerners return to the Lab fold in droves. The Lib-Dems also stand to gain Con seats, at least based on their truly outstanding performance at the recent by-election.

Thus, it's possible we could have either a Lab, or a Lib-Lab Govt within a matter of years. Both are largely pro-EU. Once in power, they could simply go back to the EU and say: 'we know and you know that Brexit was a mistake, so let's do something about it. Let us back in, in all but name - and the job's a good-un'!

If only Brexit was done, there are still many issues unsorted, if these are so simple to sort out, why has it taken so many years and still chaos reigns.

I voted Remain, not because I'm a dedicated Europhile but for two clear reasons, 1) We were clearly being lied to, as has been proven.
2) Pretty certain that the alleged benefits were far outweighed by penalties and the whole thing would become a dog's breakfast, again events have confirmed all of this.

Of course a la Mail Express etc, all the problems are down to the EU being awkward, not so, we agreed a lousy deal, now want to renegotiate.

I do hope our "government" don't think it's Macron posturing. Not least because they like to think they have a monopoly on that activity.

I've just read that much of the daily engagement with Brussels will actually be carried out by Liz Truss's deputy, Chris Heaton-Harris.

He used to chair the ERG.

So a swivel-eyed Libertarian loon at the helm of negotiations. He's a climate change denier, made Orwellian attacks on University lecturers for discussing Brexit, had meetings with the far right Spanish VOX Party.

He describes himself as a 'fierce Eurosceptic'. No negotiating skills apparent - certainly no experience in trade deals.

So a steady hand on the tiller...

Which links back to the thread I started a few days ago. The ERG are basically in control of England. The US Republican owned party within a party, are extremely far right and extremely sinister.

Isn't it strange how with the background of GDP in decline Brexiteers are still telling us about how there will be some marvellous industrial renaissance, but they are unable to tell us how?.
