Price of stamps
I bought a book of 12 first class stamps today and shocked it cost £8.40.
Must admit don’t post many letters and a few years since bought some.
Then tried the post boxes between Eccleston and Longton and all said pickup 9am.
Had to be posted today so called back at Eccleston main post office with its Bradley Wiggins good box with a 5:30 pick up.
I was posted an entry form for a dog show and had to include a cheque, last time I wrote a cheque was over two years ago.
Times sure change

I usually only buy stamps for Christmas. Must admit, I do have a sharp intake of breath when I find out what they cost. I think I'm stuck in the 90s when it comes to the price of a stamp.
All in all, not a bad service for the price though.

I never buy 1st class, I have had 2 experiences of cards posted in the same box at the same time one with 1st the other 2nd and they both arrived the following day on each occasion.
What do people think they do with 2nd class stamped post, put it to one side?

First class post
I've been doing a fair bit of ebay over the last few weeks and always post first class. People are impressed with the speed of which items arrive.
Most of my auctions end on a Saturday or Sunday and I always quote that they item will be with them by Tuesday or Wednesday at the most.
As for me getting anything, my postman seems to wander around like a zombie and has even missed me on the odd occasion that I am due something. The other week he lied to me altogether, I was waiting for the bus on a Saturday morning and saw him passing, I said, "is there anything for me in that bundle?" he said , "No there's not"
So to my amazement on my way out on Sunday afternoon, I found something posted through my door, with a stamp on and he must have put it through the wrong door. He's always doing that, a friend of mine has the same problem, she gets post for next door but one.

We went through a stage of getting the wrong post, I came home one day to find not only my post but letters for 2 neighbours as well, one occasion I was handed my credit card statement by a neighbour 3 doors away which he'd found in his front garden! I complained to be told we are on a mop up round, asking what that was I was informed that we didn't have a regular postie when they return to the delivery office they're asked if they want overtime and if anyone says yes they would be given given our round, asking what happens if no one wants overtime I was told you won't get any post?
Currently our postie is excellent.

I can remember 3 collections a day for my local post box and 2 deliveries a day.
I think most post boxes outside post offices have a teatime pick up

We have a great postman at our house, nearly always the same guy.
Parcel deliveries not as good as often carded and have to go and pick up, even though we were in at the time.

I have a theory that my postie just needs to either get a new job as he looks like he doesn't enjoy doing it or to get a guide dog as he's about as useful as a chocolate fireguard
