Regarding your posts #87#90, Desert Region. I regret, if my two posts seemed unduly strident.
I did not address the video you had inserted. Perhaps it was staged by Chinese propagandists; or just serendipitously picked-up. It was not especially relevant to my remarks.
Regarding "dangerous covidiot Right-wingers" and "their counterparts on the Woke Left": that right /left juxtaposition is clichéd; it is not necessarily vindicated in this instance. However if you were indicating that their concerns are marginal vis-à-vis all 'right-thinking' centrists, — which of course is a commonplace attitude — then, you dismiss broad swathes of people too lightly.
Incidentally, I do set a "low bar" for verbal abuse. That is not to say a bit of judicious disparagement is never warranted.
As to whether forum posts are time wasting, each of us is responsible for our own time. I may be wasting my time, but certainly other posters are not wasting MY time. Also, I do not presume to set standards.
I am sorry that my "unbidden" remarks annoyed you. My intention was to discourage a tendency to put large groups of people into broad categories, carelessly.
p.s. I will take your posts as a reminder that humility is a quality to value.
I think we'll be in lock down for at least another year, 9 months minimum.
There is little chance of that, the "prison" population is already restless.
The problem is our natural tendency to believe it won't happen to us is largely supported by the numbers.
Despite the ghastly death toll the reality is more of us won't get it noticeably than will.
There is definitely more traffic about and we are becoming inured to the daily tragic stories behind the headlines.
I will happily do more time but I have the place to do it in.
Many live in miserable circumstances and are going stir crazy.

The Government / Country can't afford it, we go bust after 3 months so they've got to start easing to spread the money out. There is already sporadic unrest around and disquiet in the prisons people will not put up with the lockdown when it starts getting warm. The Police haven't got the numbers now and there is little Army to fall back on.

Met up with an old acquaintance today who works with the elderly in care homes in Southport. After asking how she was doing etc., i asked if she had lost any of her patients to this virus. She said "No,I have not and I do not know of anyone who has caught it even" I responded the same.
Well, as you say - there is no controlling people anyway. They were out in force yesterday enjoying the sunshine. I have done nothing different to normal over the lock down - I have been going in to work, going out as I please, going to my mates - I can still knock back a pint or two, just not in a pub is all!

Aside from any other consideration (of which there are potentially many), that's some obvious, blatant trolling going on there.

I imagine that in your never ending quest to minimise the (very real) dangers of Covid-19, and the death of 100s of people in care homes, this is yet another TTDH. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I guess that your pretend acquaintance didn't work HERE

Norway hasn't suffered more than 2 - 3 hundred deaths (or thereabouts) so far. My wife, who is today celebrating her 80th birthday, has been a day-patient at a care home for a few years after suffering two strokes. When Norway was put into lockdown, the day centres were closed, including the one my wife attended. And that is a damned good thing! So far, the care home she attended has experienced 10 deaths (of 33 in the whole county where we live). Our county is, with the exception of Oslo, the one that has the highest death toll in Norway. TTDH? It happened here, very close to where we live. Thank God that Elisif was not there at the time. At present, the care home has about 30 infected patients and 40 infected staff. Poor souls.
Age is simply a matter of mind - age doesn't matter if you don't mind

First of all, happy birthday to Elisif! Thank goodness the day centre was closed and Elisif wasn't put in danger.

By TTDH (things that didn't happen), I meant Said's claim that he was talking to a care home worker. An imaginary acquaintance who hadn't heard of any cases/deaths in Southport care homes. Said's way of proving that Covid-19 isn't really a danger to the elderly. My link to 8 deaths at one Southport care home prove otherwise. Nation wide the figure is in the thousands.

Sending best wishes to you Derek at this most difficult time.
Even without the virus threat it is heartrending for you as a couple and family.

Considering you have an alleged extra wide circle of acquaintances, I find that unlikely.
I know and I mean know, rather than know of, 3 people who have suffered the symptoms of the damn virus 1 being quite ill indeed, one common factor among all three after apparent recovery, all reported very easily fatigued after very little effort, having a bath or shower was more than enough to need some rest afterwards.

Would you mind sharing with us the name of the home or perhaps the group that operates them if that is the case ?
