Merseyside's Labour Party is in meltdown yet again as a senior Labour councillor has been recorded as twice calling his fellow ward Labour councillor a lazy c**t and also describing her as a 'b*****d' . The revelation comes while the Party is still deep in faction-fighting as to whether or not to scrap the Liverpool Mayor post held by 'Big Joe' Anderson. County ward Labour Councillor Gerard Woodhouse has admitted using the slurs in reference to his Labour colleague Kay Davies . .
Councillor Davies said that hearing the recording left her in tears. Meanwhile, Councillor Woodhouse says that while he is not proud of what he said, he insists there are "two sides to every story."
Councillor Davies said about the recording:
"I cried when I heard it. My kids were upset because I was crying, my hubby felt helpless for me. She claimed further that Councillor Woodhouse had "made her life difficult" and had "goaded her" on social media.
"My home life is strained, my kids see me crying all the time and it upsets them. I’m taking medication from my doctor, I’m paying for relaxation classes to help me through this."
Councillor Woodhouse says that : "I’m not proud of what I said, but I was at the end of my tether and thought I was talking in confidence. There are two sides to a story and without going into any detail or criticising a fellow councillor in public, the complaint that Cllr Davies made was investigated by the party and concluded that there is no case to answer."
"There is another case being investigated by the Walton CLP and once that is concluded I am happy to show evidence that there is two sides to every story."
Given this appears on both local sites, could we draw the conclusio it’s come from the Lib Dem poison pen especially given “bruvvers” used on the other site is a previously used phrase by one councillor? If so feels like our local electives would be better spending efforts in working together for Southport rather than trawling for the next negative story about the opposition.
This could of course become tit-for-tat as the Southport Lib Dem’s are in their own meltdown for a number of potential reasons:
1) defection of two councillors to labour due to disagreements in how the party has become
2) losing 25% of their potential presence on the council at the last election despite all spin to try to make a good result out of it
3) Cllr Dawson suspended for allegedly declaring he couldn’t vote for their own candidate thus indicating we should vote Tory as if such a Lib Dem stalwart can’t vote for their candidate why should they assumed uninformed public do so
4) the other councillor Barton pushed out of her seat by ward hopping Cllr dan Lewis
5) Cllr Maguire quitting politics without a single tribute from her colleagues
6) the unanswered question of whether prasnee and Cherie Brandie are lib councillors
7) the playground-gate incident leading to the libs losing their own personal collesuem of the Southport area committee
8) visible loss of patience at the ballot box of Southport residents for lack of ideas and progress nationally or locally
9) Cllrs Dawson and Shaw rattling on Facebook with labour supporters clutching at straws of them being party figures to justify any disagreement...you used to have to be right to win an argument!
Plus potentially the massive funding shortage now the MPs rent isn’t being siphoned into local party coffers through office re-renting
Even if there’s only 50% in the above would say that’s a meltdown of significant proportions.
Very disappointing as a tax paying local resident that our money and voice is wasted on all this nonsense assuming of course this did come from our local libs

Oh dear...
Labour having a go at the Lib Dems, the Lib Dems having a go at Labour, is this what we pay our taxes for???
Why can't the children play nicely, instead of throwing the rattles out the pram and spitting their dummies out. Allegedly these are adults, pity they can't act like them.

I am not bothered about councillors personal feelings, not for themselves nor to each other. They should each be considering the public's views, and putting action before words. Rather like someone trying to get a shop assistant's attention who is busy chatting to a colleague - that is not what they are being paid for!
