Sefton Parking income drops
Over £8m profit made from parking on Merseyside, over half by Liverpool and over a quarter by Sefton but the income dropped by 1%
A spokesman for Sefton Council said charges in the borough are "among the cheapest in the region" and "considerably" lower than many other towns and cities.
He added: “We only issue penalty charge notices if a motorist is found to be in contravention of a restriction. Of course, if a motorist believes that a penalty charge notice has been issued incorrectly then they have the opportunity to appeal.
“Any income from Penalty Charge Notices is used to pay for the operation of the parking service."

A family member was recently given a penalty notice even though she was clearly displaying a parking pass, Having realised his mistake, the CEO has taken photos of the car, deliberately making sure that the pass is not in view. He has then taken a picture looking into the car from the drivers door window, which clearly shows the pass in the bottom near side of the screen. To date, the Council has refused the appeal, but we are more than happy to let this matter go to Court, AND, using the CEO’s own photographic “evidence”.

It's only the fines that make Pay & Display sustainable.
So if you want rid of Pay & Display make sure you buy a ticket and don't incur a fine. If everyone did that they'd soon scrap it because the service would make a loss.

Good for you. I always opt for going to court, every time!

I think they should scrap pay and display
Then everyone who works in town can park there all day for free leaving no spaces left for customers
Yay
How about everyone just pays the tiny amount it costs to park and displays the tickets or the blue badges etc in the correct position

We really need an organisation like Politifact to check the accuracy of his comments. His false/misleading claims might even surpass Donald Trump's, who, according to the Washington Post, had made 5,000 inaccurate statements by mid September.

Said's comments must be correct, after all he checks them with opinions on the street, usually from people who never leave Southport.

I ran the Southport half marathon today. I live about a mile and a half away from the start. So i thought I would drive there in order to save my legs. So I parked in the designating car park near the eco center. They charged me £2! I couldn't believe it. All these people from around the region invited to come and run and see how nice the town is, and they charged money. This afterIi had already paid in the region of £30 to enter the race.

You creep! That is cheating! There are cheaper places to park in Preston, Wigan and Bootle than the ones that you have shown and you have shown the cheapest costs in Southport!
Remind me never to play poker with you!
