You can't expect the first neighbouring country to a war zone to accommodate all fleeing asylum seekers.
Most of them don't turn their noses up at other European countries.
No reason why we shouldn't take a fair share.
France takes 4 times as many as we do.

That may be so, but France is a big country and ours certainly is not......A growing number of people here are saying: 'we're full!'

The EU has a population far greater than the population of the UK. Taking that fact into account, there comes another way of looking at it......The percentage of the EU's population who came to live here, is a lot smaller than the percentage of the UK's population who went to live elsewhere in the EU!

We're far from full. Golf courses cover more land than housing in this country. France isn't 4 times the size of the UK yet takes 4 times as many asylum seekers.

The trouble with quoting the UNHCR is they are resolutely invested in the refugee situation and sometimes make frankly stupid comments.
Of course there are bogus asylum seekers.
The frankly ridiculous notion that I have the right to sully the name of legitimate asylum seekers is plain daft.

Probably because the typical Brit is insular, narrow minded abd unwilling to learn another language.

Perfectly clear why asylum seekers choose the UK I would much rather they were given status to remain than EU citizens from their perfectly safe country!
Most of the asylum seekers from Iran fail. There are many Iranians who travel freely back and forth to the UK.
Iran is generally a very safe place to travel, so much so that many travellers describe it as the 'safest country I've ever been to', or 'much safer than travelling in Europe'. Lonely Planet.
What is less known is that Iran have a compulsory conscription for the army, with a minimum period of two years. Most young Iranians do not want to lose their freedom in this way and escape the country with funding from family members. If, they return to Iran - they are treated as deserters. Hence, they seek asylum claiming that they will be punished if they return.
That is the reason why there are so many Young men seeking asylum as opposed to whole families.
When Saddam Hussan engaged a new foreign envoy, the new employees family told him that his previous two predecessors had disappeared when their contract ended because they knew far too many of Hussan's personal details. So, the new envoy gathered up his wife and child and escaped to the USA and requested asylum.
If, as it is often claimed, these asylum seekers say that they are living under oppression and threat to life - why is it that they can just leave their more vulnerable family members to their fate - while they save their own skins.? Who do you think pays the people traffickers to get them across to Europe, where does this large sum of money come when they are so oppressed?
Check out the live videos of each country these Asylum seekers come from - a it of a different story there.
For those who are so easily taken in - I have just been told that the Eiffel Tower is being sold off and have been offered the opportunity to buy it. Would you like to purchase some shares? In five years time you will be able to triple your investment. Anyone interested?

No follow-up report of how your Kent trip went, so I'm figuring it was another total bust?

A friend of mine Ian was at that mountain in France when the Mayan calendar finished and the world ended ( and the old world order did end on that day the mayans were right ) and he was near a film crew and a few newspaper reporters so he sat in his dingy in case the world did end so as he could sail off into space. A few newspapers took pictures and did a story on this and as it turned out he later wrote a book and put the picture on the cover .. and here it is https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00..._dp_b00e7teilc

3.7 million Europeans living in the UK, equals 0.82% of the EU population who prefer to live in the UK.
1.2 million Brits living in the EU, equals 1.8% of the UK population who prefer to live in the EU.
A higher percentage of Brits prefer to live in the EU.

Shall I introduce 27 member countries into the equation?
So a lot of choices for UK citizens.

Quite possibly the worst post I have seen on this site and thats saying something. These people are fleeing war, famine and dictatorship. Do you really thing they are doing it to get freebies?
Just imagine taking your children across the sea in a 7 foot plastic dinghy. You absolute cretin, moronic, racist pig. These words are not strong enough for someone of your intelligence, not that you have any.
