Merseyside Police reports - We have arrested three males following an assault in Southport this morning (Monday 23 August).
At around 1.40am we received a report of an altercation on Scarisbrick Avenue near Chop House bar.
During the altercation, it was reported that a male victim had been stabbed.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to hospital for knife wounds. His condition is described as stable.
Officers located two males, aged 14 and 15, who had been detained by door staff, and arrested the males on suspicion of Section 18 Assault.
Following extensive CCTCV enquiries, a third suspect, aged 16, was located on Southport Promenade. He was detained and arrested on suspicion of Section 18 Assault.
All three suspects have been taken into custody and will be questioned by police.
Detectives have launched an investigation into the incident and extensive CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are being carried out.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the attack or who has any information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Paul Gillies said:
“This was an appalling incident leaving a man injured and we simply will not tolerate such violence and anti-social behaviour in our communities.
“While we were able to make three swift arrests this morning, this would have been awful for anyone to witness and our enquiries into the incident continue.
“If you were in Southport town centre in the early hours of this morning and saw anything or anyone suspicious then please let us know. Information you hold could be vital to our investigation.
“Our message is clear to those who choose to carry knives: it is just not worth the risk. We work tirelessly as a Force to tackle knife crime and if you carry a knife it is only a matter of time before you end up hurt or arrested.
“We will continue to work tirelessly with the public and our partners to prevent violence and remove the scourge of knife crime from our streets. If you have any information about this incident or knife crime in your community then please come forward, either directly or anonymously.”

14 & 15 obviously No Discipline from the Parent/s if I had been out at 1.40 am at that age let alone stabbing someone I would have not dared go home. Is anyone going to do anything about the current situation where the flower petals have banned all sorts of deserved punishment for todays scum of society. I hope the bouncers gave them a hiding before the Police got there it is the least they deserve. Or are we all to sit back and let the world go down the wastepipe before do gooders get pi**ed right off.

At 14, 15 & 16 my parents knew where I was at 01:40am, in bed. If I was on a sleepover then they still knew where I was as my friends parents were equally responsible.
Do we still have borstals?
I'd advocate some sort of "national service", not necessarily the armed services but something to give the teens of today something to focus on, and no I am not tarring all teens with the same brush it is the sad minority that gives them a bad reputation.

No, we have care homes for uncontrollable kids and they can't be locked in. It wouldn't surprise me if the 2 arrested come from one of those.

Bring back an updated version of the stocks and put it in the town centre for those found guilty. Maybe an acrylic glass cube with just a few air holes and a lockable door.

I see these termites all the time in town, dressed like bank robbers. The rot started when corporal punishment in school was banned. At least if there was no discipline at home there was in school. The only good these feral scum could do for society is if they were rounded up and used as organ donors. The sad fact is that crap breeds crap. Kids need discipline to protect them from themselves. Now nothing happens till something really bad happens.
Its all "there there, he she is expressing themselves, they are not naughty" I dont know much, but I know you never negotiate with terrorists or children.

Ooooh that’ll teach them lol.
I think I’d rather see them incarcerated for 5+ years in a young offenders institute which is the starting point for sentencing of a section 18 assault using a bladed weapon.

I was thinking more of the scrotes and tearaways that cause general vandalism and anti-social behaviour in town etc. Obviously the more serious criminals (and I include knife crime in this) should be punished accordingly regardless of age. If they are old enough to wield a knife, they are old enough to suffer the consequences.

Now what could possibly be the attraction of a street with bars, in the early hours of the morning. Sounds like they were there to access bar/s and get bladdered.....
But with an age-limit for drinking of 18yrs, what are the door personnel thinking, if they are regularly letting underage customers in? Fighting/stabbing is not normal behaviour when sober, whereas alcohol can and does sometimes fuel it - particularly in those who can't hold their ale.

Wrong, they are called 'Young Offenders Institutes which cater for 15-18 year olds and Secure Training Centres which cater for 12- 18's

They were more likely there for easy pickings robbing people staggering home.
Chop House is an over 21sbar. No way 14 year olds would get in. The door staff apprehended them outside.

Yes but we also have the sort of places I mentioned which have been the source of much of the towns anti social behaviour for the last few years.

In todays society the only people who live within the law are those who choose to. And thank goodness, most people do.
We no longer have a police force - we have a police service who are too involved adhering to political correctness to spend time apprehending law breakers. But why would they anyway? If a real criminal is caught and ends up in court, the leniency displayed by the law & Order system is unbelievable.
I am rather glad that I am nearer the end - than the beginning of my life. Whilst I was brought up in a poor neighbourhood, my parents taught me what was right and what was wrong and I lived my life accordingly. Always treating and respecting people as I would like to be treated myself. I am sorry to say that as a result of removing all discipline from childhood through into adult life that the future is a slippery slope.

Someone should write a PC defence for these youths.
Disadvantaged, Conservative Cuts, School Meals etc etc
Personally, I couldn't think of any excuse for this type of behaviour.

Why should anyone do that? Just to convince you that "PC has gone mad"?
3 days have passed and nobody has tried to excuse or defend this behaviour. Maybe the sort of people who would defend it only exist in your imagination.
