Brexit Party MEPs abstain from vote calling for release of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
Brexit Party MEPs abstained from voting on a European Parliament resolution on Thursday which called on Iran to release imprisoned EU-Iranian nationals, including British citizen Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
Despite the Brexit Party’s abstention, the resolution was passed by 608 votes. Seven opposed and 46 abstained. The Brexit Party has 29 MEPs.
Brexit Party spokesman Gawain Towler told The Independent: “It would be incompatible with what we believe, to assume that the EU is the right place or the most effective tool with which to put pressure on the Iranian government.
And we could not in all honesty and in all decency say the EU is the best forum for that, so we abstained.
He added: “If one was to vote in favour, [people would say] ‘ooh the Brexit Party wants the EU to do this, that and the other.’
“So we abstained.”

Good old Brexit party, representing and fighting our corner, defending us in the EU Parliament against the perils of Johnny Foreigner ... although in this case I would imagine that those definitions, for some people at least, may be somewhat blurred.
I laughed when the spokesman used the words honesty and decency. Laughed even more when he suggested they might be brought to task to actually do what they were voted in for.
If they were actually doing anything else (about trying to release this person) then you might possibly be led to believe that they had a point - although in this case ...

Whatever your thoughts on the Brexit Party most observers would agree the EU has no influence over Iran.
They ignore the UN as well and unfortunately the only person who is putting real pressure on them is MR Vomit President of the US Donald look at me Trump.
The "deal" we had with them was a farce and allowed them to keep their Nuclear weapons aspirations alive and kicking.
On reflection the whole voting process was pointless the same as the Brexit Party being at the EU we should have left.

Will they also abstain from cashing their Pay Cheques, Redundancy Payments and Pensions?

Whether the EU will have any influence on Iran is debatable at best, will agree that having Brexit MEPs in the European Parliament is pointless, they are only there to pick up the cash and do nothing, or at worst just disrupt and create embarrassment to the UK.
No right thinking person expects anything constructive or useful from a bunch of opportunistic shirkers.

But if we end up staying in we will be represented by them for the next 4 and a half years.

The opportunity as you call it is the direct and entirely foreseeable result of the actions of those who seek to subvert democracy at any cost.
They shouldn't be there and Nigel should be rabbiting on in a Spanish Costa pub.

That is most definitely a concern, would hope they would be honourable enough to resign, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Farage won't just vanish, he's got a nice little earner going, he will continue to hog some sort of limelight, you know the stuff, inspirational speaker, how to create maximum disruption by playing to the fears of the gullible, how to create an income from nothing while doing nothing.

Not a chance. He needs publicity like the rest of us need oxygen. The Brexit party have already stated that if we leave the EU, they would have to stay around to ensure we were 'doing it properly'.
I imagine they'll be a joke in a few years, in or out of the EU, much as UKIP is now. And Frogage will find another way to keep his Alt-Right agenda in the media.
As far as Zaghari-Ratcliffe is concerned, that is disappointing. OK, we know they aren't politicians and *yawn* hate the EU, but surely have the humanity to support any kind of action that could possibly help the poor woman.

Admiral if you laughed at the Brexit Party you should have watched Question Time last night, you would have died laughing. How the hell that Moron Davey got a knighthood is the biggest mystery in the Universe. Journalist Camilla Tominay ripped him up for bum paper every time he opened his mouth.

The facts don't bare that out Farage did go away and resigned the UKIP leadership in July 2016 the Brexit Party was simply a result of the failure to carry out the wishes of the people.
He is after all as Mr Brexit a one trick pony.
He didn't take himself to Brussels he was sent there by the anti-democracy mob.
They feed him.
