Antiues Clock - Circa 1830 - Hand Painted 12" - On Wall Brackets

How much could this be worth roughly, ideally I would have a pictures, I don't afraid.

If original how much would this be worth at least, seen some circular ones, and grandfather clock for around 3.5k. !!!!!!

John Pitt of Tetbury - Circa 1830

Not getting excited, but a square painted one in my local free ads, it is hand painted as well, someone is asking £100... !!!! Should I go for it, is it worth a punt?

Could get maybe for £80... :P

Is it a cheap version or repro, is this even possible on a small square clock. ?

It says serviced 1857, so I am not doubting age.

It was a grandfather clock and has been stripped down as a working dial with the dime. Been offered it at £80, the person lives around a mile and a half from me. ? Is he a good clock maker, is it worth anything, can you tell me anything about it. ?

He also has a c1695 Grandfather clock London one, he wants £10,000, I am not going to buy, but it would be lovely to own by the sounds of it, so to clarify this was in a grandfathr clock housing but has just been taken out of it, and used as a wall clok, maybe can be sold for parts to a grandfather clock expert. ?

Do you think this is worth a punt, anyone.... ?

Haha, it is a very confusing read I admit.

Basically is it a original 1830 dial in GWO, just missing the brown longcase, the dial is 12" and hand painted and in good condition, John Pitt, I have looked up and he looks to be processing around in that era. Any opinions or ideas.............?

Update it is a 30 hour dial with pendulm and everything else in good conditon and GWO, everything there apart from the case, but can be used with wall brackets.

Got it now, in my possesion paid £80, I am happy, and optimistic about this.

in britten's old clocks watches and their makers bible no Jno Pitt exists.
Just because he is not in the book does not mean he did not exist.
He might have bought his movements in Birmingham and put his name on the clock.
The name may be the owner of the clock, not the maker.
But on the other hand the person who botched up the long case movement to make into a wall clock may have repainted the face.

The 30 hour movement looks a lot older than you think.
The face may not relate to the movement. Look for holes that have been filled in on the back of the face plate.

£80 a fair price to pay........ you may find an American in Utah who will pay £125.

An American in Utah... ? Lol. ! I was hoping for at least £200 for this, if it is Johh Pitt Circa 1820-1830, how much would it be worth. ?

Anyway, that made an interesting read Vanny, I belive it was by John Pitt, as the person I brought it off asked somebody who knows about clocks he has created a book in fact about them, and it says Tetbury so if you search "John Pitt - Tetbury", this comes up with somebody from the era of 1820 - 1830 and he is a well accomplished clock maker.

It is in good condition for a 200 year old clock I believe.

Could it just be a considence a clock maker in Tetbury named John Pitt... ?

Surely with the case it should be worth £600, and say £250-350 without the case, as it is a fully fuctional clock from era 1 or 2.

I think the J is the for the first letter of his name and the N for the last letter of his name, and the little o maybe he centre of 12, I am not sure but I don't think his nakes is JNo...

    What do you think John?

P.S - If you could google search "John Pitt Tetbury" I would be very greatful.

John Pitt of Tetbury is recorded in Dowlers' 'Gloucestershire Clock and Watchmakers' book as working in the Market Place from 1820-1859.

Nothing has changed. Good luck if you get £259.

but at that price you will not build a customer bace.

Note: John Pitt was a very prolific maker of longcase clocks. He maintained the Tetbury Market House clock from 1816 until 1852.

your clock I think going by the works older than this date.
