Bankfield Engineering
Can anyone remember an engineering/coach building company in Southport called Bankfield Engineering ? I have a feeling that they may well have been next to Crossens railway station (but I could be well off the mark) They were around in the mid 1950s. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks Nick.......proves my memory is not as bad as I thought it was Bankfield built two fire engines for Manchester in 1953 and 1955.....not sure what else they did there. Cockers of Kew also built fire engines for Manchester ,,,,,I wonder if there is any connection between the two firms.

The railway station became JW Raylor who manufactured scaffolding and part of the engineering works was Bankfield works, which i think is the Bankfield Engineering you are asking about.

I remember them being there they were on the Bankfield Lane side of the bridge and the Building they were housed in was the old West Lanc's Railway carriage shed if I remember correctly. I remember seeing a London Transport bus in there when passing one day.
