Traffic Chaos. Who else is sick of it.
I for one am sick to death of the current traffic chaos on the roads of Southport.
I tried to go to Ainsdale at lunch time and couldn't get any further than the roundabout and ended up walking back to the Shell petrol station because I had my time wasted by diversions. I could have been sure that I saw some people waiting by the bus stop outside the Lions Charity Shop and Ladbrokes.
What I am liking about it though is the way that the 46 and 46a have to let people on and off at stops along Liverpool Rd.
That's about the only bonus

I always check google maps traffic before travelling ,, the woods are a joke , and today it was more roadworks , very often I will vary my journey thanks to foresight ,
but I am not looking forwards to the summer weekends , its got to the point I could not get to my son thanks to traffic , now I am prepared to just abandon the car ( where it stands !! ) and move on ..
this year Sefton Council are going to monitor the problem ... but how does 2 lanes of stationary by pass traffic fit into 200 parking spaces at Formby woods ?
but look to the future when another roundabout gets built at Woodvale ... and that new housing estate is nice and close to the Squirrel reserve ..... guess the rest
always reverse to see what you have run over ...

Can't we just hire one of the mentally disabled people to plan the buildings and roads for and around Southport. They would have more common sense.

Try travelling into Liverpool to work this month. 1st avoid the temporary lights on Guildford Rd. Then get in the long queue at the old Weld Blundell traffic lights to crawl through Ince Woods. There are 4 way temporary lights at Millers Bridge/Derby Road, causing huge queues, then Great Howard St is closed inbound for a month, forcing all traffic onto Dock Rd, which also has roadworks for almost the full length. For some reason they are constructing a pavement & cycle path for all the hundreds of pedestrians & cyclists you see down there ? The road surface however is full of potholes... All this in the month when there are more cars on the road than usual as there are rail replacement buses on the Northern Line. Every route into the city from the north is lined with queuing traffic. Then do it all in reverse at the end of the day. A 22 mile journey regularly takes 90 minutes. You really couldn’t make it up....

Meanwhile, driving through Birkdale village without the barriers going down every 10 minutes is absolute bliss!

I would have all underground roads for motor vehicles where possible, and ensure sufficient parking in preference to more housing. To fund this I would run a local lottery every week and make a workforce of all Q local posters.

I went by Ainsdale Station on Saturday and Lo & Behold the Platform that was rebuilt a few months ago is being all ripped up, why couldn't that work have been done when they had the station closed then?
