Southport Quads helped rescue a missing dog from Southport Beach.
Salli, a black and white Collie Cross had slipped away from the owners the previous day.
Having been sighted by the pier in the mud and grass, the Southport Lifeboat Crew were asked if we could assist.
Salli was very nervous and didn't want to be caught, so the quad team had to persevere and chase her until she tired.
About one mile North West of the pier the crew were able to catch Salli and bring her back to the Lifeboat Station to be reunited with her owners shortly before 6pm.
A video can be found at the following link: https://youtu.be/cls92pGkOhE
Please remember that the Southport Lifeboat is an independent charity that is not part of the RNLI or Coastguard.

You miserable git.
You should get yourself a pet. It might bring some joy into your soulless existence. But then again, you’d probably hate all the pet hair getting into your nice beige carpet.

I tend to agree with donkey22. The animal was in distress and as far as I'm aware the guys who attended were not being called away from another incident.
I suppose it boils down to whether you think animals deserve the same sort of compassion that would be afforded to a human being in similar circumstances. If you don't then leave the dog to drown or starve or whatever might have happened to it.

To be fair to ausard2, a point wasn't being made on whether or not a dog was as deserving of rescue as a human.
I saw it as about recouping the expense incurred in rescuing the dog.
In my view, given the Southport crew are reliant on local donations and - make much of there being no help from the RNLI, the question is not an unreasonable one.
